THE OFFICIAL THANK YOU FROM XTIONPAINTBALL
To All Who Were Involved in the Nation Cup 2004,
Words cannot describe the appreciation that we hold for all of you who were there or who have contributed but were unable to join us during this historic moment for Malaysian paintball or possibly even Asia Pacific. We failed to thank all parties properly during the awards and players party night as I,acting as the representative of the organising cast, was quite frankly overwhelmed by the entire occasion.I could only thank all of you in general and I could hardly remember what I said after that(I only had one beer at that time,ok)
For me,the tournament was great and the teams competed keenly as they should in all tournaments. There was the normal talk of compromised integrity, blaming of referees, dissatisfaction with the dissipation of information by the organisersand even 2 teams pulling out in the 2nd day.I spoke about this with a well known and well travelled writer from a well knowned magazine during a dinner after the Cup and his reply to me was "hey Paul, that sounds like you had a successful tourney".(Perhaps he was trying to cheer me up)
We finished dinner and he reiterated the point and pledge to make the paintball world take notice of Asia. That was a happy moment ...the region had gained.
The greatest joy I felt during this entire tourney as I was bustling about was not about which team was leading or whether a problem was solved. It was when I looked around me,I could see faces from so many different countries mingling together.....helping,assisting,sharing a joke, lending out markers, guiding, commentating, doing a demo game, having photos taken together and so many others. There was so many I've been in touch with but have never met them in person. To have met them all at once was like ....wowww and to find them to be the great people I thought they are....fantastic experience.I,like many other Malaysians, have never attended an international tourney and the the whole experience was fantastic to say the least.Over the last few days I've received many sms from our locals thanking the organisers for giving them the experience but I would just like to say here that it was not us but you yourself and all our international guests who created the occasion.
No one can possibly plan the for that and as organisers,we can only facilitate and try to guide it towards it.We should say our thank yous in the forums to the rightfull parties and to yourselves for making it turn out the way it did.I could feel that everyone wanted the Cup to work and the contribution by many of the participants went well beyond that which would normally be there. With that ....I feel that I should thank each and every one of you so that one day, maybe, the history books will record these great people who were present to help make it all happen here in Malaysia during the country's premier paintball tournament....they are
