The long awaited NPPL All-Star Game, hosted at the DC Challenge at Pev's Paintball Park in Aldie, VA has come to a close, with the West Coast Conference dominating three games in a row to take the championship.

The All-Star Game made use of a brand new experimental NPPL game style known as "S7", which takes the best elements from the best tournament formats and combines them into one. Both the East and West crews were excited to showcase the new format, which was also a big hit with the hundreds of spectators in attendance.

This is what the first test run for S7 was...

S7 Man – to 3:
Teams play on a 7Man layout with 7 Players on the field. A max of 9 players may be on the game roster. The flag will be at the CENTER of the field.

All other regular 7Man rules remain unchanged.

Time / Scoring
Match time is 15min. 3 min between each point
First team to score 3 points wins. Or team with the lead after 15min match time. If the match ends in a tie, it remains a tie game.
Switch ends after every 2nd score (2-0, 1-1, 2-2)

WINS / LOSES / TIES
Teams will receive 3 points for a MAX win (3 Game Points scored)
Teams will receive 2 points for a time limit win (held the lead when time expired)
Teams will receive 1 point for a tie. (No overtime)

Penalties
1for1 – apply the penalty the same as 7Man
2for1 – apply the penalty the same as 7Man, plus play the next point down 1 player.
3for1 – Point is conceded by offending team, plus the play the next 2 points down 1 player.

If the last player on the field commits a foul, or is pulled due to a foul, then the opposing team will be awarded a point. If any player hangs a flag, and is found to be eliminated (dirty hang) the hang will not count, and that players team must start the next point down 1 player.

Coaching
No coaching permitted. Each team may have a “Coach” in the coaching box. This person will be permitted to call Time Outs (to extend the 3min break period, one per team per match) he may also concede points to save game time.

I think we need to make a few tweaks (Nothing to big) but it was sick to play! I know a few more pro teams are going to do it in practice to get more of a feel.

I would love to play a full event like this! Who knows I might be in Vegas for the last NPPL event of the season. ;-)
