I know that I may not be an exceptional player and I sure as heck need to practice develop and learn more about this game. I learnt that when we faced Sabre a few weeks back in Wrexham. They had 2 guests 1 from the Mayhem Tigers and the other from K2. No disrespect to Sabre cause we had a chat before our game and they were all top guys, but on another day I think the game would have been more even. But there was something about this game that amazed me. The level of difference and inconsistency in my (and the teams) game. One match we would Whoop ar$e and the next 30 secs and we would be sitting in the dead box.

At what point do you find a change in your game?

Also I want to do more in paintball and I am curious and determined to make a name for myself in this sport. I have met some of the greatest people through this sport and they inspired me to try and do more. And in turn I hope that one day my exprience is passed on to other new faces to the game.

Even in my realitivly short space of time in tourney ball i have learnt more than I thought i would.

So to make this a discussion how does everyone else feel about the current development of the sport?

What level do you try to involve yourself into it?

Just a player?
Just a marshall?

Do you want to be an organiser?

Or just a friendly face in the crowd?

I know one way to make a name for yourslef is entering tournaments outside your state or country or whatever. I try and just be a player cuase i leave the marshalling to the proffesionals. Also i have seen many-o-fights break out between player and ref cause of calls. Like the infamous "splatter or hit" argument. Fist fights and all.

Another way to make a name for yourself is doing a crazy-sick move on the field. Like jumping over a bunker while shooting at someone ( almost pulled this off....But i fell flat on my ass and got lit up)

There are a few ways that you can get your name recognized quickly that I would recommend. One, you can cook. :D Two, have some anodizing job on your gun that no one else has. You can also be a tech wizard at your site, which of course takes a while but it's a good thing for everyone, though sometimes it might cut into your playing time a bit. Bringing women to the field with you takes skill, patience, connections, and a bit of money, but will also definately get you noticed. Simpler than that is be a good heckler on the field with loud, obnoxious, but creative and entertaining insults to be slung at the opposition as you stream paint at them continuously.

I play, marshall, spectate, write, and commune in the sport. Well known? Hell, 3/4 of people don't even know what I look like. I introduce myself as how you know me and I do get a LOT of "Oh, YOU'RE that guy? YOU? Wow...uh...I expected...different I guess." In fact, it astounds even me the number of people that know me for a while on here before even seeing me or knowing my actual name. Doesn't bother me at all though, in fact, I find it kinda cool. Perhaps I might be eating dinner at the table next to you tomorrow night! I am everywhere and nowhere.

As to this query .....I am no expert but have had some experience of this sport.

Remember this do not ever p*iss someone who has influence off..I did with a remark about food at sites after playing in various places....and am now a pariah:mad: :( .(Not Happy I like the person who is peeved at me:( and apologise if you thought thought this was directed at you.....it wasn't and I now bring my own salads and stuff to a tourney...got to.. am on a low cholesterol diet)

The best we can all do as players is play as well as we can and travel a bit and perhaps save up for a major tourney....Campaign for example.....travel out of your county and win a division ....or come in the top 3....that's all we can do.

This sport is all about the cameraderie that exists betwen team....not on the field but off it....this makes this sport GREAT!!

We all get together and have a good day out...get rid of our need for adrenaline(in various ways....and I've seen a few....punching a wooden post, throwing up,pottering off for a good think.....each person has their own way of dealing with a day paintballin')

just remember this is a team sport and the only thing that matters is your team on the day....do your best for them and they will know it.....if you get talent spotted all the better for you ....but that's an individual thing.
