1 or 2 of you know I'm trying to bodge DM5 electronics into the Shocker frame.
Got the kit today (Cheers Fly Mate) so decided to give it a go.
1st I desoldered the Shocker top-board from the solenoid, that was easy :D
Then I realised I don't have the right connector for the DM5 board-Solenoid!! (anyone got a spare? :D)
So I bodged it with some pre-crimped wires.
Soldered them to the solenoid and connected all the electronics together to test.

The DM5 board tripped the solenoid nicely.

Then I went about fitting the board into the frame.
Had to Dremmel a bit off the frame and a bit off the board. It's in now, but I need to dremmel some more to sink it further.

The red light is currently on, meaning the eyes can se each other, damn good eyes!!
I poked them through some old detents just to test.

I'm using the Nerve as the shocker is stripped ready for some milling all going well :D
Need to figure out what I'm doing with the battery as it doesn't fit in the frame as yet  Then make the hole for the membrane.
The Nerve fires nicely with the DM board so I guess the shocker will too :D

Thanks to Rosie, Fly, Tom Allen, Strawb, John C and YDNA (from the States) for all your help.

Got a few of the white 2 pin housings if that's what you need for the solenoid plug, also got the pins but you'll need to find a way to crimp or solder them.

PM me your addy and i'll stick them in the post.

Out of interest, if your using a shocker frame on a shocker then why do you want a DM board in there?

Actually, it's because he's crazy! And he has a little too much spare time in the evenings :)

Lookin good, intrigued as to how you're gonna fit the battery though :)

And he wants to add the DM5 electronics so he can add Break beam eyes to his shocker and have the ability to change chips for upgrades :)

Cheers bro :D but he's right. So far it's working out cheaper than a new board that takes BB eyes, or even just a new upgradeable board :D
Would have preferred a new frame but don't want a tray and Rosies got the ShEgo corner sorted.
Thought about a Timmy frame, but not that keen.
I personally think the electronics in the shocker are crap :D The ribbon cable, top board idea and eye ribbon are all just a bit poo IMO.

Got a few ideas for the battery, will see what takes shape when the board's in it's final resting place. Thinking about changing to smaller cells or something bigger but flatter. Anyone got any ideas? :D

Body is off to the one Tom Allen to be "looked at" so all going well that will have a few extra holes in a few days :D

Will hopefully be getting a Ton Ton frame at a later date, if I can afford it, so will be bodging into there also I suspect :D

I don't think the crap electronics from smart parts are limited to the shocker, the buttons and position/design of the board in the ion is as bad if not worse than a shocker.

[Waits for abuse from shocker and ion owners  ]

Lol at the battery :D. You're gonna find it difficult to dremel/mill out enough space without losing the strength of the frame.
The Ton Ton would be easier slightly, good thinking.

I quote from the Simpsons (as well as I can remember!):

Marge: "What are you doing Homie?"
Homer: "We've run out of triple As so I'm wittling down some of these Cs"

That's the solution! Wittle down the PP3s :)

Maybe a digital camera battery or something similar? :)
