Hey.

Some of you may remember I posted a few months back regarding a short film I was going to do. It kind of evolved on these boards into a Matrix inspired piece.

Well with work very nearly completed, I'm prepping to move into the sound stage. Despite some efforts I've not managed to get any usable paintball gun sounds, and we all know what would happen if I used real gun sounds ;) So if anyone has any good recordings of any markers firing, can you let me know! I don't have time to create the sounds from scratch. Really need a couple of seperate markers firing single shots. A few different sounding markers would be great. Mono only.

I've still got a few computer graphic shots to do, but should be done by the end of the week. I've set aside 5 days from Friday to do, and complete, the sound. It's a mad rush as we're trying to get screened at a local short film show next Wednesday. I'd prefer longer doing the sound but that will have to suffice. Any help on sounds would be greatly appreciated.

When it's ready it'll go online, could be as early as next weekend we'll have to see. As I say the computer graphics work is a struggle

The movie is coming in a little under 4 minutes in length, and is an interesting hybrid of paintball in the Matrix world.

And yes it kicks arse

Cheers!

Matt

Thanks for the link mate, couldn't get that to play for some reason?? Installed the Real Player. However I don't know if that's what I want, it says it's firing 20 shots a second, I really need single shots.

Anything else out there?

Thanks

Matt

That would be great! Ideally the recordings would be of a fairly high quality, with little background noise. A sample of the background noise so I can filter it out.

What may be best is if you can record several different guns, and record each 3 or 4 times in 3 or 4 different positions - mic end of barrel, mic a few feet from the barrel, mic about the feed tube. All should sound sufficiently different - we can't use the same single sound over and over, it'll be pretty dull! I'd imagine it would sound better with a loaded gun, however we don't want any impact noises.

This should be done as single shots. Also, to make things easier, if you could record the same guns in the same positions, firing them 4 to 9 times a second for a few seconds in bursts. That way we'll have some nice sounds to drop into the background. Yep 4 to 9 shots a second is pretty slow but it's all for a reason :)

Cheer for the offer of help mate, let me know if you'll be able to do it and when you think you'll get time.

Oh and if you can get sounds of paintballs hitting a Sup'Air inflatable then that would be great as well. This one is very tricky, we need the sound of the impact only, not the gun firing

Thanks

Matt

No worries, if I've still got the sampler I'll also have editing software so I can clean any backup hiss etc. I'll try and have a look tonight and I'll let you know.
Completly of topic but is there a big screenwriters/filmmakers community in Brighton, I only ask as a friend of mine moved down there about a while back to try and concentrate on his scriptwriting.

Thanks for the help, hope the recording goes well.

Yeah there's quite a large "film" community down in Brighton. Can't walk down a street without bumping into an actor! There's a lot of people who want to get into films but not a lot really happens, it's a mecca without the industry to back it up. It's all arty stuff which really isn't my thing.

Cheers

Actually mate one more thing about the recording - can you try and avoid getting too much reverb in the sound. Recording indoors is always a problem, and as the movie takes place in a field it shouldn't sound have too much echo!

Cheers mate,
