I'm trying to teach my two friends who've both played at least 8 times and suck as bad as when they first started how to play, but I'm failing miserably.

If you could give these two hopeless kids three tips, what would they be? (They are, or will be, back players)

Practice, practice, practice, find someone who is a better player than you and ask them to watch your game and give you HONEST feedback on your week points,(don't get upset by what they say! It is golden information!) Go away and improve the things you're week on!
Repeat as necessary! And it will always be necessary to practice!
Have fun!

1) You'll never get better unless you play against people better than yourself.

As a newbie I was always challenging the experienced players. I was getting schooled left and right - but I was learning. Eventually they had to take me seriously.

Advice

Hi,

There is a "How not to suck at paintball" artical on this site, that's worth a look.

In what way do they suck? I speak as an idividual who used to suck (I like to think I have got a bit better) who played for a team who also really sucked (though we do win games now :D). There are many ways to suck, I am familiar with many of them :p

Richard (Who knows jack diddly really, but hopefully some people who know will be able to help you with some more info)

Well, for one I think both of them are a little afraid of being hit (though they have a lot of blubber so it shouldn't hurt them as much as me) and both of them would be too lazy to read. I mean, I can agree with them there; reading is for nerds! *cough*

They just do not strive to learn. They just want to play. That's why they still suck so bad.

I'm just trying to get something to pound in to their pea-sized brains. Maybe, just maybe, they'll remember it on the field when they have to.

You cannot help people who do not want to be helped......they will learn the hard way....which in this sport is the painfull way:rolleyes: :p

Speaking as a coward and a wimp...

One skill that is easy to teach is staying tight, if they do that it'll hurt less, and you can always tell what they're doing wrong coz that's where the paint is.

If in doubt when you practice ask the opponents to shoot them up a little, that way they'll learn to avoid pain ;-) Pavlov sytle.

But hey if they just want to play ball and are content with sucking then there isn't a lot you can do except wait for there hunger to win take over.

Oh and tell them to get some gloves, that way they cant hurt their hands... first piece of paintball equipment I aquired :D

Good luck

Richard
