Just to say a huge thankyou to everyone at Nottingham on Sunday. It was our (Scholars) first tournie and noone really knew what to expect. What we found was a bunch of extremely friendly people who kept coming over and talking to us and giving us loads of useful advice on everything. I have to admit I was getting stressed as the morning was so hectic with lots of equipment probs, but these were soon sorted out.

Special thankyous go to (in chronological order)

The guy from PGI (Who's name I am ashamed to say I can't remember) for the lend of the playing tops and also the free physiotherapy on one of our front guys.

Whichever team lent us the red shutter after one of our markers decided to go down for the entire day. (I really should try to pay more attention to who's who)

Spud from the Stupid Troopers, for general advice, help, chat, moral support and encouraging us to get the uni tournament team sorted out in the first place.

Team Tremmor for being complete superstars for our last game. Ok, picture this, I'm at the chrono desperatly trying to sort out a mag that just won't play. Then this guy just quietly says: "Follow me, don't be shy." So I follow him back to his teams box, expecting him to start sorting the mag out, but instead, he just ignores me and starts gassing up his own marker. Hmm, I think, has he forgotten that he asked me to follow him? He finishes gassing up and turns to me. Then he gives me his angel. Then I become unable to speak. To cut a long story short, two guys from Tremmor came up to our last game with us (after lending us another angel!) and talked us through our breakout and gave us a huge number of other (hightly secret) playing hints. Anyway, they really psyched us up and we ended up storming through ou last game on the biggest adrenalin hype I've ever had. Our team really gelled in the game and it was all down to Tremmor. Guys I can't thank you enough, hopefully see at least one of you next weekend at the 10 man. My only complaint is that I now despartly want to buy an angel (any cheap second hand anyone?).

Ok, I'm sure I've missed a few people / teams out cos there was always someone offering us help and advice, so to those people, thankyou very much. Also thankyou to diablo, for nice paint all day (not sponsored yet :)

Oh, thanks to all the teams we played, everyone was really friendly even after they'd eliminated us all, which was nice ;-)

Overall, we finished 5th out of 7 in our deivision, and we're all really happy, since we were expecting to be at best 8th :)

Can't express how much I enjoyed the day, looking forward to the April event.

Cheers again,

Tom (Scholars) (York uni paintball team)

Mmmm, that cocker has been very kind to me indeed. The only problem I ever have had is that when I got it the velo was only about 200fps. So I turned it up. Now its ok ;-) I think its the best marker we have, along with the shocker, but that needs re-timing. We had serious problems with the mag though, the trigger was sticking back and causing it to leak everywhere. Hopefully have that sorted for next time we play.

See you in April (The March event is too far for us too :( and I'm gonna be skiing anyway),

Tom

Hi there Scholars

I am glad that you had a great day too, for three of the five of us it was our first tourny to and one of us had never fired his marker before.

We enjoyed all of our games and fully expected to be in 8th (Although 7th was all that could be attained) to. We finished fourth in the end so we are well happy to.

You think you were stressed in the morning, some one gave us duff directions to the site and it took us from 7:15 in Ollerton to 8:45 to find the site, Bugger!

Look forward to playing you in the April leg, I am missing the March leg as I am snowboarding (Someone moved the tourney date after I had booked!)

See you all soon!

I think you have to thank Daft Lad from Tremmor for the Angels, he is an absolute diamond.

He will be there on Sunday along with some of the other guys from Tremmor as they are marshalling the event. ( try not to shoot him too many times if you are playing :) )

If you are spectating, no worries, no doubt he will come up to you and try to give you a kiss for coming back to see him :D

Big Ian

P S If you really want to help us, if you see a bloke on Sunday called Bif, either (a) tell him he is stupid, or, (b) tell him to shut up :p

P P S Yes we have some second hand Angels, see me at the 10 man.

Burb - Thanks for that first game. After you took out our entire team except me off the break I was happy to bew able to practice my snap shooting on your whole team :) Chuffed to have even got 2 of you before you tagged me. I was slitting it that I was gonna get painfully bukered any second.

Cheers for the game and looking forward to the rematch in April,

Ian - Say thanks again to Daft for me, hopefully I'll be at the 10-man playing on a scratch team, but if not can you give me details of the angels some time? BTW does anyone know if you can run an angel on co2 and if so is it any good? Our practice site has no air so would need a co2 setup for there, but obviously would want air for tourneys too.

Tom, off to stop eating, going out and having a girlfriend for a month to fund angel purchase.
