Just to say a huge thankyou to everyone at Nottingham on Sunday. It was our (Scholars) first tournie and noone really knew what to expect. What we found was a bunch of extremely friendly people who kept coming over and talking to us and giving us loads of useful advice on everything. I have to admit I was getting stressed as the morning was so hectic with lots of equipment probs, but these were soon sorted out.
Special thankyous go to (in chronological order)
The guy from PGI (Who's name I am ashamed to say I can't remember) for the lend of the playing tops and also the free physiotherapy on one of our front guys.
Whichever team lent us the red shutter after one of our markers decided to go down for the entire day. (I really should try to pay more attention to who's who)
Spud from the Stupid Troopers, for general advice, help, chat, moral support and encouraging us to get the uni tournament team sorted out in the first place.
Team Tremmor for being complete superstars for our last game. Ok, picture this, I'm at the chrono desperatly trying to sort out a mag that just won't play. Then this guy just quietly says: "Follow me, don't be shy." So I follow him back to his teams box, expecting him to start sorting the mag out, but instead, he just ignores me and starts gassing up his own marker. Hmm, I think, has he forgotten that he asked me to follow him? He finishes gassing up and turns to me. Then he gives me his angel. Then I become unable to speak. To cut a long story short, two guys from Tremmor came up to our last game with us (after lending us another angel!) and talked us through our breakout and gave us a huge number of other (hightly secret) playing hints. Anyway, they really psyched us up and we ended up storming through ou last game on the biggest adrenalin hype I've ever had. Our team really gelled in the game and it was all down to Tremmor. Guys I can't thank you enough, hopefully see at least one of you next weekend at the 10 man. My only complaint is that I now despartly want to buy an angel (any cheap second hand anyone?).
Ok, I'm sure I've missed a few people / teams out cos there was always someone offering us help and advice, so to those people, thankyou very much. Also thankyou to diablo, for nice paint all day (not sponsored yet
Oh, thanks to all the teams we played, everyone was really friendly even after they'd eliminated us all, which was nice ;-)
Overall, we finished 5th out of 7 in our deivision, and we're all really happy, since we were expecting to be at best 8th
Can't express how much I enjoyed the day, looking forward to the April event.
Cheers again,
Tom (Scholars) (York uni paintball team)
