Teething Problems?

Hi,

I recently bought a new Tippmann 98 Custom from Just Paintball, but I seem to have a few problems. Basically, when I fire, it will fire fine, but won't always recock. Any ideas on why it's doing this? Im using CO2, and I don't know what velocity it's firing at, as i've only been able to test it in my back garden, so it's about 5 turns from all in of the velocity screw, will get it chrono'd at my first walkon on sunday.

Thanks

Velocity will not effect the re-cocking process
With the tippman, you sure get a little ziplock back with manual, allen keys, spare bottle orings and a little sealed packet of oil.

I would suggest putting a bit of oil on the big white oring you can see when you pull back the cocking arm. It will be right at the end of the cut out where the cocking arm is.
Another place to oil, is the oring that can be seen where the hopper feeds into.
You may have to pull the cocking arm back slightly to see it when its uncocked.

This is a good website for 98s

The tank has only recently been filled, about 2 days ago, so definatly enough in the tank. Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to oil those parts next time i clean it (sunday).

Also, is the ball latch important? Mine is looking brittle and worn already, but it's only fired 100 rounds :(

Yeah pretty important, stops the ball rolling down the barrel when not shooting. A worn/dmaged one can cause chops. Try replacing it.

Not sure about the cocking problem tho

Tipmans love oil make sure it is well oiled regular at the back where the cocking lever is and the bolt do this as said above through the feed neck also put a little bit of oil in the back of the gun where you screw your co2 bottl in (ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE RUNNING ON CO2) this will blow through the valve when you gas it up making sure your valve is well lubed without stripping it. important that you do this otherwise the o rings in the valve will perrish quickly and they can be a pain if your not used to doin them.

Dont know where your from but if you need spares Warped paintball
(01902 455 455)stock tipman parts if your not near wolverhampton then they will get them out in the post for you.

Als might be an idea to open the case of the gun and check all the spring and dowels are ok sometimes they break/wear but this is rare unless it gets the use of a site gun.

Hope that helps
