I knew this one was coming.

Yes its good to see a new team start up, but unfortunately I feel you are going to have next to no success with recruiting new players due to a number of reasons. The first is that the season has already started in most of the tourney series thus the committed players are already on squad rosters. Also seeing as you are down south the bigger teams will snap up any potential players. The second is that seeing as you’re a new team you have no sponsorship deals, because you are planning on playing the Dartford 7’s and the lack of free players, you are going to have to recruit from further a field. Now a player is not going to relish travelling from up north and play on a new team and pay full whack for everything. Now the big crunch very few people are going to want to play on a team where the captain has little or no tourney experience.
Just follow everybody’s advice and join an already formed team pick up some experience this season and then for your own team in the off-season. Failing that make a nuisance of yourself down at a local site and try to persuade recballers to join your team.

Jason i would agree with this guy on this i'm afraid :( there is the uk marshall's just up the road from u they have a organised club and training facilities and i beleive they are doing the d 7's and a couple of milleniums this year so u will get to see tourney ball as it is supposed to be not from the sidelines like u are at the moment ok mate anyway this is just my opinion and u don't have to take our advice but u would be wise to:):):):):

I agree were out of the way up in Carlisle from the majority of ballers and it has took us three years to get an 8 player roster we have also got a few second teams which we have groomed from rec player days at our site. The majority of serious ballers are in the midlands and manchester area not down south or where we are. There are players in those areas but they already play for teams far more well known.

Join an estabilshed team or find some rec ballers or another group trying to make a team.:)

Everyone is right in what they are saying, you will find it hard to pick up players on these boards because you are competing with several much more established and supported teams.

However all is not lost for your team.

You will have to start by entering a KOTH 5 man event, If you ring the organiser they will help you pick up players on the day. This is good because it is likely you will pick up a couple of more experienced players who you can learn from. You can even find some players for your team in this way.

After you have played a few tourneys you will be in a much better position to pick up more players. You will next benefit greatly by attending training days organised by bigger teams, here you might pick up more players of your level, or get snapped up by some bigger team. Most importantly you will learn from them and improve your game.

From there I cant say, my first team was a bunch of friends from school and our local site.
Players came and went as did the team itself but a core remained and still play together now on a different team.

Dont be too concerned with sponsorship. Many teams will entice you with their 'deals' and it is tempting to go about asking for sponsorship for your team.
In my experience it is a bad idea. 80% of the teams who claim to be sponsored are actually worse off than non sponsored teams.
They get a minor discount on paint and equipment but they are tied to using certain equipment and paint this is bad. Most companies will give you these discounts anyway if you buy alot from them and then if you fancy a change you can do.

I hope that helped a bit.
