got a 03 imp but i just cannot get the metal plug out
been using a candle to try heat it up but just cannot get it to budge

any tips on what sort of heat this thing will need

leave a hair dryer by it for half an hour... to be honest, i had a problem like this, i found that leverage helps. i had a screwdriver gripped allen key, couldnt move it, so gripped onto the screwdriver grip with some molegrips, and twisted, came undone nice and easy:)

my tip....

send it to smart parts where they have the proper equipment and knowledge...

the guys there know exactly what they're doing

and you dont run the risk of buggering your gun...

You can fit an allen wrench into the screw, put a torch on the allen wrench, and the heat will conduct to the screw nicely.
It won't really heat up the aluminum body much until the loctite is burned into a weaker condition, so this works quite well, particularly with red (permanent) loctite.
