I was cleaning my gun and I had my tank on to make sure my gun still worked. So I unscrewed my on/off and low and behold my gun is airing up by like 50psi a second. So I take the tank off and the pin valve has air in it. So I take pliers and pull the pin a little, and it stops, but starts again as soon as I put the tank back. Is there a good way to fix it? I think it might have sand or something in it.

BTW its a Angel Air preset tank at 450psi output.

Staying warm on a sunday!
like buddha said it does sound like a dirty valve.

how much air have you got left in the tank?

it may be that because you have little air left it is not enough for the pin to be forced hard enough back to seal 100%

or it could be a combination of both of the above

peace

I got like 1200 psi left.....how should I go about cleaning it? I was figuring either dunking it in water or using a Q-tip. Ive done dunking before but the tank is generally empty when I do it.

If I am reading that right and you say you clean your valve by submerging it in water when the tank is depressurised it is highly possible you may have some form of corrosion internally in the reg or maybe just a buildup of smeg !

My advice is take it into your nearest tech shop and ask them to open it up for you and give it the once over.

To clean your valve you need to remove it from your bottle. Once it's removed, which will take an act of God, you can access and clean all the parts and you'd be well advised to replace any seals as well, as that could be the cause of your leak.
