Tadao Yakuza board display dim

I have a tadao yakuza board in my ego 8. It's been in there for about 3 years but has only been actually used a handful of times. The display has decided to go really dim, it's invisible in daylight but in a dark room you can see its actually on.

I've changed the batteries and checked the brightness setting on the board itself. Anyone had a similar issue or have any suggestions?

my friend has has a similar issue with his tadao board and i think not certain it just happens over time mate no sure what to suggest sorry i couldnt be more help
