The game of the year! Sweden vs USA X-ball in Stockholm.

After winning nations cup in Portugal 2001 and 2002 team Sweden felt comfortable going to the first X-ball Nations cup in Pittsburgh 2002. The Swedes cruised thru Team Canada and Team France. Meanwhile team USA crushed every team facing them. The collision came in the semi-finals where both teams faced each other.
That game will go down as the hardest, hottest and best played nations game ever. The teams followed each other point wise in a titanic game. The crowd was crazy, the coaches was screaming and the players didn’t have any love to the opponents. In the end quarter the Swedes felt that the American reffs was giving the American team to many favours and walked out of the game and the nations cup. USA won and went all the way and won the entire Nations cup.

Now the Swedes are on “revenge mode” and the rematch are scheduled to the Swedish capital Stockholm. The stage is once again set for a titanic game. Both team have crushed every team facing them in the nations cup and they are both undefeated with intimidating scores.

Captain and coach of the Swedes Magued Idris says
“ Team USA is going to find themselves in a world of pain. They will not enjoy this game at all! We still feel the loss in Pittsburgh and it will all be corrected this night in Stockholm. The Americans had the advantage of home turf, crowd and everything else in Pittsburgh. In Stockholm they will only have defeat.”

The Swedish nation cup squad is picked from 5-6 different Swedish teams. This concept have been extremely successful for the Swedes. Rather than picking players from 1-2 teams like many other Nation teams. The Swedes is also flying in top NXL pro players Max and Alex Lundqvist from New York Extreme.

The Team USA captain Paul Alders had this to say about he game.

“We look forward to Destroying the Swedish team the same way we destroyed
our previous opponents. Although Sweden has a strong team, we feel that the
skills of each of the US players is far superior to that of the Swedish
team. We have watched the Swedish team play and are confident that our
playing techniques and variety of plays will show the paintball world that
the US team is one of the top Nations Cup X-Ball teams. Our team is anxious
to play and even more anxious to celebrate a definitive victory."

The game is scheduled 2 August in Stockholm at the Joy Masters millennium event. Reffing the game will be Team Finland.

I wasn't there so I guess I can't comment directly, but I of all the people I know who saw it noone claims unfairness but the overseas lot. Now, I would maybe say that's our problem but going INTO nation's cup people were already charging bias. I, being a US citizen, get really tired of these charges all the time especially when our teams go overseas, whup up there, and STILL get charged with bias over here.

To me, it looks like an easy out. From all reports I've heard, reffing was top notch. Congratulating a player (especially one you know) on a good move doesn't necessarily mean you are giving them any extra love.

Extra love...

Congratulating a player (especially one you know) on a good move doesn't necessarily mean you are giving them any extra love.
Yeah, maybe not. But it certainly doesn't present a good image to Euro Team X, especially when they're playing in the US, against Team USA, and the marshalls are Americans. The marshalls shouldn't appear partial in any way. Perception isn't always reality, and reality isn't always perception, but in that situation it definitely isn't helping Euro Team X's confidence in the marshalling.
noone claims unfairness but the overseas lot
The overseas lot - lets see, that's every team except Team USA and Team Canada, who might as well be Team USA 2. Go figure.

Not to take anything away from any of the Euro X-Ball teams or the Euro pro teams, but the general attitude over here is that the American teams are better than the European teams. I think it's more psychological than anything, because the Euro pro and X-Ball teams, in my opinion, are just as good if not better in a lot of cases. But if some players or teams go into it thinking that they're already at a disadvantage, and then see the marshalls congratulating their opposition, that only adds fuel to the fire. Not to mention that biased marshalling is rampant in all series that have teams/players marshalling. It's unfortunate, but it's a fact. Did it happen in this case? I can't say because I wasn't there, but I did hear it from a few people that played there. You could equate this to any French team marshalling a Nations Cup match in Toulouse, with Team France playing Team Anyone. It would never happen because it offers the opportunity for bias.

Most Americans are automatically biased towards anything American, no matter what it is. Being an American, I can say that. And I probably would have acted the same before I came to live in Europe - America Rules, and to hell with the rest of ya. Actually, that's more or less what Lasoya told the crowd in Toulouse, "We're 1,2 and 3, and ya'll can eat a d!ck." You can break that attitude down like this: Arrgogance + Ignorance = Complete Twat. But after living over here for the last 2+ years, and seeing everything from the other side, you see that equation played out time and time again. Not to say that we've cornered that market, but we're well known for it worldwide.
