well we took 3rd for am b. we are quite happy with that. it came down to the last game in the finals but we didnt finish as strong as we should having maxed 8 games of 10 in qualifying to finish 1st in Am B.

1st round points came to 782.

we played really aggressive and took the 50s every game. we beat new russians in about 50 seconds. i jumped in the snake on the tomahawk field and by the time i got to the end, everybody on thier team was already gone.

we got 2 maxs in the semis

we played well over all and are looking forward to next season.

Just got back from the tournament and felt that i would post my thoughts on the event as a whole.

Firstly the judging, the marshalls at this event were SUPERB! Big respect to Joy, Joy Kids, Powertrip and Hyponotize you guys rocked. It didnt matter who the team was, the tough calls were made and teams were dealt with impartially and fairly. i thought that the professional attitude that these guys showed was admirable, and they showed why the are flown half eay accross the world to Judge the NPPL's.

Having heard the reports from last year about the fields i was aprehensive about what they set up would be. many of you know that last year the majority of the back barricades in the back corners were lay down pills and little sausages, and they were the same here. The right hand tape on the Angel field was made up of a sub on the 50, and 3 sausages on each side in a line to the back of the field. As you can imagine, the paint shot by the back guys was therefore reduced as they could not stand up and had to play the game on their fronts.... The 3 fields (except the Draxxus field) were too narrow, i think the Angel field was about 25 metres wide!:(

The staging area was great, sheltered and easily accessible although there was no security and i did not get asked for my players pass at all at any time. The floor of the staging hall was a bit like tin foil.......and you can imagine how many people fell over when the paint was spilt on the floor..... The staging area got so hot in the afternoon that many teams decided to stage outside on the grass and concrete in the open as it was cooler than inside.

The Chrono situation was average, i did not get chronoed onto every field, and someties was not chronoed at all. The players passes were not checked at any time in the games....even in the semi finals games....didnt really seem much point having them.

The standard of the games played was high accross the board. The pros were exciting to watch and many of the games over the 3 days were just mug fests, with players flying out all over the place and getting tagged. It does the marshalls great credit that they managed to keep up with all the play and make the right calls in split seconds. Well done guys!:)

The Air was better than it has been, players could control the speed of the fill and the air was much cleaner than at any other event. Magued really did good on that count.:)

The event if I am honest ranks below Amsterdam, Toulouse and Germany, but I am sure that many people had a better time than i did. I felt that the teams had been hard done by in the way the fileds were laid out and deserved a better field set up for better games.

Sam
;)

Also, congrats to the Tigers and to Shock 3, well done guys.

And Woz--> Next time you need a gun, come and ask;)

And Paul......whats that on the back of your leg.....?:D ;)

trhe thing that scared me on the air fill was that i was on my way to fill my tank on friday morning and as i get to the fill station "boom" a lock ring from the fill line blews off...luckily no one got hurt but it wasnt the best thing either! and i could hear many more booms from the air fill station on the weekend!

Just a quick point sjt19, isn't Joy meant to be more inventive in the designs of their fields compared to other Millenium Events? People know this and then still have a go about the fields after the tourney. Magued always experiments with the field designs and thats why people turn up.........to play on fields that encourage agressive play. Without this creative input all fields would have a stand up can on the back corners, and a T-bag on the 50!

Keep it up Magued.

No it isnt, many of the teams and people there turned up because they were committed to playing the whole series.

The reason that a lot of the regular UK teams in the Millennium Series didnt go was because they knew the fields wouldnot be as good as the other events. the Angel Fields was under 25m wide, thats smaller than a swinning pool in width

Yea, but do you not think that playing on these fields improves a variety of skills that will make you a better player? With fields promoting mugging and movement, instead of the more static style of game play (that some fields seem biased towards) it also means a more exciting game to watch, and that seems to be the way the game is headed.

I say get the practice in now, as you may never see another stand up can at the back corner again

Uggghhhhh!

we beat new russians in about 50 seconds.
That was a serious thrashing. Well played guys. We started really strong - tearing through Rebirth, and then beating Hardcore. After that, it was all downhill. Lots of reasons why, but we basically drug all of our off-the-field problems into every game. And we also had three guys playing with us who weren't in Toulouse, and shouldn't be on the team to begin with. It was all a total nightmare.

Anyway, good showing Shock. We're looking forward to next year, as we're marshalling Campaign.

yeah i secound that, the new russians are a hell of a team and we were really pleased to beat them it was the highlight of the tourney. i hope we play next year;)

looks like campaign is set to have some really good marshal teams, so far i know shock am a, shock am b, millenium, and new russians are marshaling and i assume campaign power are. it gonna be a kick ass tournament.

and while i'm on the subject of marshaling big respect to the joy division teams and all the other marshals at the joymasters, you were without doubt the best judges so far. good work guys. i dont think we had one bad call or mistake in all 16 games we played.

see you on the fields at campaign;)
