Survey : Paintball Players and the "Industry"

Tyger

Old School, New Tricks
I asked this on another board, so I'll ask it here too.

Please choose from the following :

Which of the following describes how the paintball INDUSTRY looks at the players :

Pets
Meat

I'd do this as a poll, but there's no option to do so.

Do the only options imply a certain bias?

Perhaps you might add the choice--"customers?"

How 'bout this poll?
How does Walmart treat the people who enter their stores?
Fodder for the production of soylent green.
Like a malaria-carrying mosquito.

Hrm, well, depends on the company. For the big ones, it's kinda like TV: there are some that are mindless followers just looking for something to fill them, others are trivia fanatics that are hooked into details and storylines and want to stay "in the know", then there is the campfire/concert follower phenom where people just go where there is light and noise to huddle around. So, paintball is for entertainment, and they look at the public as an audience to keep feeding stuff to keep their attention.

The market is only loyal to its needs. I dont believe the industry treats players like 'pets' or 'meat', customer comes first, I think many companies in paintball do allot to keep their customers happy.
Wdp for example, offer full tech support at all major events, poor ol Frazer sits there with a massive pile of angels all day and its all to keep the customer happy.
You seem very cynical of everything Tyger, there is no conspiracy!

Baca's right, the industry view paintballers as 'customers'...............I dont really get what the point of this thread is...why am I still writing?

because not all pball companies are as forward thinking as WDP, try the customer services of Viewloader before brass eagle took over and the clause introduced into the warrenty after.(the one that says if you put ANY stickers on the loader the warrenty is invalidated.
I would say most view us as customers and some as meat.
A cynic I am.

And I am not usually disapointed.

And which loader do you use?
The marketplace gives you choices and I'd say BE and Viewloader have paid a price over the last year or two.

I use a halo and I would agree that they have paid the price, they released the Evolution (which imo was not much good) when the Ricochet came out and tried to kill the Halo in court (not heard anymore about that) and their are other powered loaders out their but the most common is still the Revo.

Well, the industry is somewhat at the players mercy I'd say. There's enough of a variety now that if you're not satisfied with a product you're not stuck with it. Until recently, Viewloader was basically all there was to choose from for motorized hoppers *grumble grumble*, and thank goodness the hopper market's blossomed. And what happened? They started making reliable hoppers. Now, more than ever before, these companies are having to compete for their $, so it's difficult to say that they'd view us as pets or meat. Of course, if someone would pick up my traveling expences for next season, I'd be their pet for certain.;)

AGD's Customer service spot on!

I certainly don't feel like a pets or meat, anytime I speak to them I feel like a valued customer hell that was before I'd even bought anything off them, thats another reason I bought my Extreme.

When I had my angel and a.i.r I took it down to wdp to have the ball bearing mod done (which they did for free), whilst there I asked frazer to check if my angel was set up correctly (I told him the LPR was set at around 90) I expected him to take it out back and test it instead he opened the breech closed it and passed it back saying yeah its fine, not quite what I expected!
