After being at practice the last couple of weekends in Manchester at our local field D7s North ,We should have been in Germany one weekend , but due to personal problems on my part we could not go ,anyway .... We have been there from 9 am every sat and Sunday, now the total sum of people there has been about 10 people over 2 weekends, For all the chat the people make about wanting to get better and putting the effort and the will to win, no one is willing to get to this venue and play paintball, the site has got 4500 air, pretty much a millennium field and good guy that runs the site,

What irritates me more than anything , should rob decide to call it a day , at the moment I know he’s not , but you have to look at the basic economics of it all , there just aint enough people at this venue to keep his head above water .

I have no idea about the rest of the country as I have not been traveling up and down the country for the last 6 months ,but it would be a crying shame to see a site like this go ,just because people can not be arsed .

People run these venues because they love the game , BUT people need to make profit to keep these venues afloat ,

The trouble is we have a great abundance of forum ballers who claim they will use a training site but when one opens up its a case of er can't go this week because of ......... well put what you want here.

Another reason and is one I have gone on about loads of times is teams play to much, it's a hobby at best for 90% of ballers out there and we have to remember that.
They do not want to train they want to play, and thats all, it is very difficult to prove to them they would enjoy the game far more if they missed an occasional tourney and went to a training site.

Russ , your right a hobby it is , however , for me, given the chance of playing for a full day for under 40quid or going to an event and cost ing you around 100 , I know where i would want to spend my money :)

The number of times people say on these fourms , why are'nt we the best in europe anymore, simple fact is people , just want to play events , which as fun as it maybe , u might only get 9-10 games in a day where at if you put the effort in you could get twice as many in a day , if not more .So you get so much more for money .

Without these sites its going to be even a bleaker future than it already looks

Under 40 quid is true if you live next door to the site. Add 40 quid travel to that and it's a different story.

Not to mention if you don't drive actually getting to the site once you've got to the train station.

Add to that the age of a lot of the players, the income that they have, the amount of time available off work they can get and family commitments and it just gets bleaker anyway. (This has all been said before)

I absolutely agree with your point and think people should support these sites when they can but for some it isn't physically possible on such a regular basis, as much as I'm sure they'd like it to be.

kat ,

I understand about traveling probably more than anyone on these boards about having to drive to practices on your own or on the train . if people just wanna play paintball as a hobby , thats fine , however if you wanna get as far as possible its worth missing the odd event and playing at the local field you will get so much more out of it .

if you are on your own trying to make a practice and you local field is a an hr away, then if you book your train ticket in advance its a fraction of the price .If your traveling with friends in car this is a lot less,Kat this is not a personal dig at anyone in particular, just the simple fact people are quite happy to spend over 100 quid to play events and then complain about the state of the game.

Edit , Kat a lot of sites are willing to help people out getting to and from the station . I know Rob does this and Markie C used to do this with the Northern Quater .
