Guys
We've got two very specialist roles available for the District 10 event, we're looking for volunteers to be one of two Intel Analysts.
What does the job entail?
It's a very different role to anything ever seen before in paintball. Each side will have an Intel Analyst, the Intel Analyst will be one of the most important and pivotal characters in the game, but in an unusual twist, you'll not play for either side, you'll effectively be working for me.
I'll be asking each side (Humans and Aliens) to provide a HQ Commander who will be located in the HQ and will sit and work alongside each Intel Analyst. The HQ Commander will work for the team, the Intel Analyst will work for me.
Each Analyst will sit at a PC connected to a 42inch LCD screen located within the main staging area in a Command HQ booth just at the entrance to the field. Each Analyst will be connected via licensed radio and earpiece (in one ear) to the secure marshalling radio net. Over the other ear will be a headset connected to a microphone and wired to the PC.
Each Analyst will have an electronic map of the battle field with each base and respawn point clearly marked on it. Part of the Analysts job will be to continually listen in on the secure marshalling net and update the map on the screen as each base or respawn point is taken or captured. Therefore, as each player walks past the Intel Booth to go back onto the field, a quick glance at the big screen will tell them what bases their team holds, what respawns their team holds and what territory they do not hold. As such, the Intel Booth will be a hub of activity. This constant flow of data and updating of the battlefield map will be invaluable for the HQ Commander sitting alongside the Intel Analyst.
Concurrently, the Intel Analyst will also receive via wireless transmission to their terminals special missions for their team. These will be coming thick and fast and will be two way. The Intel Analyst will need to receive the messages and pass them on to the HQ Commander sitting alongside them. The messages will be in the form of text, video message and maps and may require downloading onto portable storage device which will then be taken into the field as part of the mission. The Intel Analysts role is to receive, download and sort the data coming in before passing to the HQ Commander.
There will also be data and Intel coming into the Intel Booth from the field. Much of this will be time critical and may require the Intel Analyst to download data from a portable storage device that has been brought in from the field, follow the instructions which may involve recording images on a camera or camcorder, recording audio passages and codes via the microphone or large amounts of typing before transmitting it to game control before a deadline. All this needs to be done whilst still listening to the secure net and constantly updating the battlefield map.
The job will require high levels of IT skills as you'll be using a lot of tech. You'll be using multiple storage devices, receiving and transmitting messages, digital cameras and webcams as well as audio recording software. It will also be quite high pressure as much of the data will need to be transmitted against a deadline. But......it'll also be a great experience. Anyone who enjoys Spooks and can use a PC will be in their element. It'll be a high profile and pivotal role in the event and should be a hell of a lot of fun.
A Brucie Bonus
Because the Intel Analysts will not be getting any trigger time during the Sunday, we'll give them free entry to the event and a free box of paint so that you can fill your boots in the field all day Saturday absolutely free before settling in for a tech fest on the Sunday.
To apply for one of the two Intel Analysts roles, please PM me or post something up in this thread.
