Not necessarily, I also thought that the fields at Toulouse were fast and aggressive - esp the Tomohawk with the double snake down both sides.
Personally, I think a lot of 'smaller' tourneys too often go for the 'Coke cans in the back corners, everything else wherever' approach to field design
This (IMHO) leads to slow, paint-throwing games where the back corners just lock everything down and it takes an audacious move to break the game early
I prefer fields where the middle is the focus for the field, and not controlling the fifty will lose you the game quickly.
