Stupid Smart Parts Question

Ok can someone answer my question before the Smart Parts haters run amok.

Not purchased anything SP for a while, the website has moved to a "one size fits all" US website.

Can I order online as before?

Will my purchase arrive from the states with VAT & duty to pay?

Should I phone through my order to SP Europe?

Why not price in £.

To all the SP haters, don't agree with their actions but do love their Shocker.

The site allows you to select if you're in Europe or US, and yes you can still call the boys in Bexley to place an order.

Sales made in the UK will be fulfilled by SPE as long as you're looking at the right bit of the store - prices should show in £ not $ (check you have cookies turned on).

SPE are in UK so no import duty to pay (but you do still pay VAT - that's an EU thing, not an import thing).

That would be the VAT that they're required by law to include in displayed prices when selling primarily to consumers, but don't bother to?

:D

That law only applies to retailers who sell predominantly to consumers - I guess SP(E) can get away with it because they can prove far more of their business is b2b, even if the site itself seems to be targetted at consumers... :)

OK, reported this to SPE who are passing the message on to the guys in the US who do the web site. In the meantime just call them for a quote if you need a price.

QP - you are right. The vast majority of SPEs business is to other retailers in the EU, at a (very) rough guess I would say much less than 1/20th of their business is retail!
