i stripped the screw that is right infront of the tip of the ion. say if you put the barrel in it would be directly under the barrel and above the regulator. I don't know how i did it but i guess i was screwing it in on an angle. trust me i felt like a complete idiot and wanted to punch a hole in the wall. but i just want to fix it or find an alternative. I've already settled with buying another gun but if i dont have to i don't want to.

More than likely you have drilled a new thread at an angle to the old one with the screw.

Take the frame off and try re boring the old thread by screwing the screw in again nice and straight. Its worked for me in the past.

Honestly Im sure the metal Smart Pants use for their guns is 50% playdoh.

I only have one SP part left on my gun, even though im always really careful about cross threading stuff, the metal is so soft sometimes you dont realise that the screw hasnt gone in right.

On the same sort of lines, Ive got a screw stuck that holds the rail on to the bottom of the gun.

The allen key part of it is totaly mashed any one got any ideas on how to remove it? (Will teach me to buy a second hand gun!)

Cheers

Matt

Yeah, any help appriciated, I have rounded out the head on an allen screw aswell.
I have been advised the best thing is to "glue" it with some sort of metal compound and loose the screw and allen key afterwards, any other proven sugestion?

If you round the head on an allen bolt, you can do 2 things:
1) Cut a groove in it with a dremel, and extract it with a flat-blade screwdriver
2) Drill a hole down it's centre, and use a stud extractor

I find if you accidentally cross thread a hole in Aluminium, just use a good tap, and tap a new thread. It'll usually hold.

i had a similar problem with my ion! my stock feedneck was put in wrong and all the thread was mangled inside, i had to cut a new thread with my new feedneck which i got off here which wont actually undo! gaaaahh! otha than that i love my ion its the niceest marker in the world now its upped to within an inch of its life! :D

If you do have to cut a new thread with a screw - coat the screw (less of a problem with taps) in a bit of grease to help remove it afterwards, and keep turning it back out a bit every few turns as you cut the thread, so it doesn't get stuck fast.
