Took a look at my grill today and the strap is starting to look on the $hit side of life and has brought up a couple of questions.

1. How is the strap replaced as its not like a JT where you can just pull out the strap and cram in a new one.

2. If I took the old strap out of the clips, put a JT one in and sowed it up, would that be classed as illegal for tournaments?

Want to put another one in but unsure if this will set the alarms off at any future tournaments

1 - no either unpick the stitches or just do what I did and cut the bugger

2 - I've had a JT strap in for about, well as long as I've had my grillz, used them with no problems, apart from when I chopped my hair off, the JT straped are about 1-2 inches longer than the Grillz straps, so if you have a small head, either sew a JT one one with an over lap or whak another Grillz one on (they come with the clips attached already)

If you change the strap you are modifying the goggles and as such should not be allowed to use them in tournaments.
Of course people do and if the straps came off because of your bad workmanship you would not have a claim. but I doubt you would have even if they was the original.
I just only check the obvious ones, if you wanted to keep them "insurance legal" just sew the new one on top.

It would make more sense for the ref to look at the strap and see if its solid enough to hold the mask to your face.

After giving the strap a couple of good yanks, thats when it would be more likely for anyone to judge if it is strong enough to be allowed into play.

Thats my thought anyway
