Stop this or not to stop this...that is here the question

I saw yet another thread where a player complained about a team that had a few "better" players lined up at an event.

The team won 1st place in Div 1 due to that.

His point was: That having better player "Ringers" on a team is not fair towards teams that field their own squad all the time and that it does cost them vital points for the league.

He is asking for a full stop about it.

I see his point might not share his view completely, but would love to hear your guys view.

Cheers,

Oli

not really fair. but life isnt fair :)

Just train harder :)

spose it depends on how many ringers your talking about doesnt it? 2 in a 7 man team isnt really sufficient to dramatically effect the outcome.

If its with in the rules its not cheating and for all the whingeing in the world people will still do it. If you don't like it, you should look at it as a rules issue not a team behaviour issue. However, to implement and monitored player status or registration system across the uk scene might be beyond the cooperation of those involved.

Of course if the uk scene evolved, to cater for the more casual player at walk-on sites, concentrating the more dedicated players in tournaments, then it might be feasible to implement. But that isn’t about to happen over night.

I think Div one players in say div 4 may be a ****e thing to do... but you can't exactly 'ring' players in Div one as surely Div one should have the best players of the series in anyway, therefor new players introduced are just as capable?

anyone see ollie lang at campaign? he made a huge diffrence to that team, basicly won most of their games. ringers is a fact of life, it swings both ways. what you need in this game is friends in higher divs :D

The rules state for that league that you are allowed;

Division 1 Established teams automatically qualify.
No limit on number of Pro players.
New teams cannot chose to rank as a Division 1 team.
To be honest i think there should be a lower limit of ringers in each team, if spod were to field a few of our international pros m8s at the next event there would be all sorts of sh1t thrown up.

Example;
Fine Nexus can enter the event as they are a team, but if 6 of nexus and me were to enter under my team name, is that fair??

I think there should be a limit of 2 pro ringers to each team, fine if the player joins the team for a season, but really it aint fair on other teams if one team ends up with a vertually all pro guesting squad!

You know my feelings Oli :) There's a simple solution - player registration.

As said above, in Div 1 I don't really care that much, but lower down it makes a stupid difference. Teams were cost promotion in leg 7 of the NSPL this year because of it, and that sucks.

I also know you don't agree with me, but that's all cool :)

lets think football will a top div team not get the best players they can,there for if you are running a paintball team and you had accesss to better players why not use that to your advantage.

I'm in favour of player registration.

Teams enter events with the intention of winning. They can enter one off events in a division they think they have a chance in or with some leagues have seeding decided by organisers who base on previous results. This works OK. For teams who have paid a hefty entrance and travelled a long distance to find themselves playing not the teams of their ability but a bunch of ringers it's a loss of quite a big investment. It's understandable why this issue upsets people.

Our team has voted with our feet and it's certainly a factor in our decision to apply to play in the PA next year.
