Has anyone ever damaged the electronic board in their marker with static?

Yon know how when ever you open up your computer or other electronic device you should wear a anti static strap does this apply to paintball marker boards i assume it does:confused:

reason i ask is that my WAS board might be right royally shagged and i dont know why:confused:

It's hard but quite possible - anything containing CMOS technology is susceptible to static discharge damage. Generally, marker electronics are lacquer-coated to protect against moisture, which should make it harder to accidentally damage, though.

What are the symptoms?

If anybody cares....

The EclipseBlade circuit boards have been tested with static discharges in excess of 20,000V. At 9,000V we took out the telephone system in the building where we were conducting the tests. Doh!

Also, when we came to defrost the fridge today we found a board in the ice compartment, covered in ice an inch thick (we froze it some time ago and forgot!). We chipped away just enough ice to expose the battery terminals and pushbuttons and then applied power - it worked.

Just in case you thought that we messed around all day. ;)

Gotta push everything to the limits, or you may as well settle for second rate goods.

Circuitry isn't as fragile as people think it is. Just think of all those phone exchanges, phone boxes, ECU's, Volcano detection units....all abused by all types of weather and survive.
