I saw this on the forum a little while ago with all the hype over Stakos.
I *think* it was 60 psi/sec as the max fill rate for a Stako.

Can anyone confirm how much it is?

Not sure about Stako but I've read the recommended for a lot of bottles is 100psi / second... although not sure how you can measure that on those guages that count up in thousands:rolleyes:

meh, I've never taken 4 and 1/2 minutes to fill a bottle  oh well, my bad! sorry for the incorrect answer :)
probably most people dont, me included.

Dunno if 6000psi a minute is wrong in terms of manufacturers guidelines.
Do you have a source?

I think the general concensus is slower the better all round.

Well, the rates most rigs fill at now, you get a 4500psi fill in 15-20 secs?

thats 225-300psi a sec.

I think someone had found some official Stako documentation. I've searched on Stako's site but the documents I found didn't say fill rate.

I'm just curious because as a user of my Stako myself, I want to make sure I'm using the right procedures.

mine are filled as slowly as possible.
personally if i feel the rigs are going to fast i'll stop and let the bottles have a cool down after only a short fill - and repeat a few times until full.
whether this will actually help or not i have no idea - but it makes me feel better.

I do the same, but the way I see it, if it fills at 250psi/sec, you fill for 5 seconds, then wait 15 secs and fill some more, you still filled 250psi/sec for 5 seconds, so the damage is already done.

Sure, the heat buildup wont be as bad, but the inner lining has already expanded faster than it should

You should never leave it empty anyway.
