'Squad busters' are hardly new,they've been available for years.They don't work particuarly well, they've been known to open in the grenadiers 
hand, or not to burst at all no matter how hard they are thrown. 'Meteor shower' grenades seem to be more reliable, available from countypaintball.com and others, about $5 a piece. You are probably better off spending your money on more paint, far more accurate and reliable.
Whether they count as a hit is really up to field where you play, some allow it, some don't. Check with the field operator before play.
