Spyder Xtra Velocity

My bro has a Spyder Xtra and wants to know if they can be dialled down to a safe velocity for use on rec fields. He read a review and found that you may need a new velocity spring to be able to use it straight from the box. Is this true?

It should be fine straigth out of the box. If you go to a paintball field they will have a chronograph that you can shoot over and check the velocity. Some times they come with a heavy spring. you shouldnt need a spring kit until your spring wears down.
