Ok guys, I am looking to buy a Spyder Shutter, I am a total newbie, would this be a good gun for me?

I would obviously upgrade it if I got any good but I don't want to spend a ****load straight away.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

:p

The site i work at use Infernos. If a gun can survive the abuse it would get every week in the hands of the general public then it says something about the way there put together. In my opinion, reliability is the most important thing to look for in any level of marker. Check one out and see what you think:)

or........... you could get a tippmann 98 or custom 98, they are good entrant marker, cheap, have a lot of upgrades and can be put through the most punishing ordeal ever and still be working 100%. I have one and recommend it, but that is only my opinion. I have used Campain's inferno's and they are good too.

The Tippmanns and the Infernos are the best starter guns for a newbie.

the Kingman Spyder series is a good place to start, or try

Inferno
Piranah
Tipman
or look second hand (Auto-mag, Cocker, Impulse)

depends on your budget.

if you're new to the sport, i recomend trying as many differant markers as possible.
ive used all but a tipman, and thats by choice. i ended up geting a good deal on a cocker. but it depends on budget, and technical ability.
Piranahs, and infernos, are as easy as anything to clean, and maintain. piranahs are "spyder clones", and as such are just as good as a spyder, but do benefit from a quick strip system.

just try em and see.

everything about paintball comes down to preferance, and thats something only you can decide. you gun is the biggest investment youll make so make sure you get it right first time.

hope that helps

I think the spyder shutter is a pretty decent marker. I've had mine for awhile (was my first marker, and until now, two years later, was my only marker).

Shoots quickly, accuracy is decent (although not exceptional). I've had a few problems with balls breaking in the feed, but overall it's been pretty good. Anyway, this is coming from someone who's pretty much still a rookie player, so I haven't used too many different markers (and am not an expert).

When I bought mine, though, I did throw a Revolution loader on it to make sure I'd always have a ball in the barrel, and a Dye Boomstick barrel to improve the shot. I haven't really used the stock barrel that came with it.

The only downside is crawling through the woods with my bright red marker shouting out "Here I come!". :) But that's why I now have a Tippmann Custom 98 Sniper (Flatline) on the way.

dont want to be a pesemist, but im not sure i see a tipman as a step "UP" from a shutter.
why are you changing??
a tipman is a great starter marker, but a shutter is better, and youve already got one of those. please explain??

Remember that if you want to play at the top levels, you will need a completly different class of marker.
So what ever you choose to start with, you will replace, as you move up.
Might be a better idea, to find a 2nd hand, but better marker to start with?
Somthing like an Impulse could be upgraded as you go, or just keep the starter gun as a spare.
