Hi.

I bought a broken spyder fenix from Alex Masters off these forums, the broken part is a capacitor. He was very helpful and ordered a new part for me, its arrived but I don't know how to fit it.

Please Help.

Sorry,

I kinda put that wrong.

I don't know the actual location where the old one was. I can't find anywhere to put the capacitor on the gripframe and I don't know where else.

Thanks.

ok bear with me here i have just took apart my fenix to look it, the capacitator(will call it CAP for short), goes above the led screen, on the board where the little led screen there is 2 little silver squares above the battery connector where it has to be soldered to i have included a picture if it helps not of great quailty but the cap is on the right, if that helps at all

Excuse me for crashing the thread, but when you say it was broken, what was it doing? A mate here at work has an old GameFace spyder clone and it's playing up, not firing every time. Could that be the capacitor goosed on it?

If it is, anyone got any hints as to the best place to get a new one? Maplins or somewhere similar?

RS Components is your best bet for them.

I cant remember what they are called, there was a thread on the kingman boards i put up, but they have just upgraded and lost all the threads.

You could search these forums, as im sure i posted it in a spyder thread here too.

ODE - If its sort of tripping, but not with enough power to trip the sear all the time, then it prolly is the capacitor, it seems to be a problem with kingman boards that the soldering is crap.

Cheers Ste, sounds just like what it's doing. I took it apart & had a quick look, it worked every time for over 2000 cycles with the grip off the body, as soon as I put it back together (so there was more work for it to do to drop the sear) it started playing up.

Ta :)

try the grip screws cause on most spyders the screw at the top of the handle if its to tight it wont fire, so loosen it off then try it obviously not to loose it falls out

on mine it was one of the tails on the capacitor (inside the body) had snapped, making it a lose connection, you could push it to make the connection, but the remedy was to solider a new one in.
