spraying hopper shells

ok guys i want to spray my clear hopper shells but am not sure if i should spray the inside or the out also wat do i need to put ontop of the paint (protective coating)
i know there was a huge thead up about this not that long ago but i just can't remember wat it said

Spray the inside with plastikote then use plastikote lacquer to protect the finish.

Or use tamiya polycarbonate sprays, these etch into the plastic shell and will not come off whatever you do to it, and spray the inside.

i used car spray quite durable after few coats of lacquer, spray the inside but thats quite hard to do if your going for a pattern of some sort, i rubbed down outside with wet and dry then primer then first coat and second coat and then the detail coat the four coats of varnish it turned out ok
