Sports council News flash

I was very kindly invited to join Yorkie of the mayhem's marshalls club to day for a meeting with the sports councils representatives (appoliges for spelling I have been fighting the good fight and am tired)

It has gone very well the lady in question was very impressed and will now be doing her own independant reserch.

I hasten to add this is by no means underminding anything the ukpsf is doing and is a second approach from a diffrent angle but all with the same end result.

To get paintball reconised as a sport. :D

Yorkie and my self are both very pro ukpsf, both our projects have the full support of the ukpsf.

As I say it has gone well Patrica has even had her first try with a paintball marker and really enjoyed it. As luck has it her office is at chrystal palace and she had seen the campaign cup from above sadly they had to stay in their office so were left none the wiser till now.

I am sure my self and Yorkie will keep you posted as to developements.

Patrica is putting her presentation to the board at the end of may so it will be a little while yet.

thank you for letting me help yorkie and I hope I can help again and look forward to seeing you and the boys soon.

Well done Sparklie...

Once more it appears that the British have to lead the way for the rest of the world to follow.
With the happenings in the states and a city attempting to ban paintballing on thier land, it has been a bleak prospect for our beloved sport (can I call it that yet?). Yet on the reading of news like this it is once again time for us to smile
The only misgivings could be that if Paintball is regarded as a sport, that the big money players within the industry start to hike up the prices of everything. But then this would be a small price to pay for the general publics view to change from regarding us players as 'wannabe rambos' to amateur sportsmen and women.

Once again well done Sparklie and keep up the good work:D

I would like to think not

We are very luck we have many dedicated people constantly on the case.

Steve Bull I think we would be in trouble with out you.

Any one not supporting the ukpsf shame on you this is one of the main reasons we have paintball here still in the uk. Steve is always on the case, when we had the foot and mouth crisis the goverment contacted Steve (it might have been the other way round  ) the out come was because we had a reconised structured governing body they took us seriously and consulted us:) !!! And I know that as much as possible he dose try to see that paintball is portrayed in a good light publicly ie tv ect and if he has not been consulted and it's bad stuff he gets on the case.

Yes I think Bullys tops.

We have to stand up and be counted if we want things to improve and get reconition and a better more widly seen public face to the sport. I have idears comming out of my ears if only I had the time and money to implement half of them:(

It only took 1 lucky phone call to get the tv people down on site and get the accademy launch on telly. It's not perfect the tv people took what they wanted but it is still paintball making news headlines on tv and basically real in your face stuff as it is.

If every one joined the ukpsf or their country equivlent we would have a louder voice. politisions mabey smarmy two faced gits but how many of you have ever asked any of them to find out what its about?

We have had our local mayor and mayor elect out on sup air lol yes is was funny one hid at the back the other went in all rambo and loved it.

If no one invites them they will never know:rolleyes: and they have to have some thing to talk about during those booring dinners ect.

This is only my opinion, I am luck I am eloquent even if my spelling is awful (sorry to those adhorent to bad spellings) Iam not afraid of sitting on committys or public speacking.

Yorkie is also trying to arange a paintball awarness day if we could do this I think it would go a long way.

Bikers hold toy runs ie they buy toys and ride to hospitals childrens homes ect with them it's good publicity for an often outcast section of sosictey. Even the hells angels do stuff.

Nothings for free and whilst the majority rest on their laurels if we all even did a little just imagine the diffrence it could make.

Any way enough for tonight I hand over the soap box happy balling and long may it continue

peace love and cookies

Hey Sparklie,

Nice to know the UKPSF still has a few fans :)

On the subject of recognition it might be worth knowing that the 'Steering Group for Recognition' of UKSport (United Kingdom Sports Councils) met in December 2001 to discuss the issue and supposedly made recommendations which would then be voted on officially by UKSport in a later meeting

The meeting was supposedly in (early) March but as yet they have yet to send me any official letter as to the decision.

It might also be worth noting that whilst Sport England (who are also the body responsible for Crystal Palace) have been a pain in the neck over the past few years at least they reply to letters and phonecalls. UKSport are far less considerate or efficient :(

Dear Hotpoint

Thank you for tecnical who's who, I really was shattered when I typed the above Short notice the drive ect.

Yes I am a huge fan of the ukpsf and always explain it to all new people I speak to in connection with paintball. 99% of the time they have never heard of UKPSF even walk ons :(

I for one am very proud of our UKPSF and Steve Bull for all the work they do for the sport.

I think It was sport england we spoke to although I am sure Yorkie can qualiffy this.

Like I said she was very impressed and we even got her to have a go in the range:D one happy excited lady;) I shall keep in touch with yorkie and I will obviously let you all know of any updates.

Good luck with UK sport.

I am standing in your corner backing you all the way;)

Steve Bull has been nothing other than superb and this is why i am a memeber and always will be of the UKPSF. Anything you need a hand with i am willing to do.

When I had been out of paintball again it was a chance internet surf that gave me Steves number he told me all about this Campaign Cup that was going on and told me to come down, so I venture down to (the one before Crystal Palace) Effingham and watch paint ball talk to people and get a book of all UKPSF reg sites,

Got to play and met Sparklie and the rest so far is history.

I love this sport and anything anyone is doing to improve the reputation and standing is fine with me.

Good on ya people.
