If you do a search through the boards, I'm sure you will find a ton of posts about securing sponsorship. Also, I believe Liz did an article on it in PBUK - and I'm sure if you do a search through your own PGI archives at home, you are bound to find some info there, too. ;)

Make a good media pack, with photos, results, player bios etc and send that out to potential Sponsors. Perhaps a DVD if you have the resources. . .

Having a good point of contact in each company helps, too.

Companies want teams that represent their company well, provide good media coverage and reflect the company's image.

Starting with companies who you already use their equipment/paintballs is the obvious road to start down.

It might be late in the season to be seeking current game year sponsorship, you might need to set your sights on securing something for next year.

Good luck

It depends what you mean by sponsorship, true sponsorship where what you get is in exchange for promoting your sponsors brand or, bulkbuy/loyalty discount type things.

Team Lycan are a novice team, and they managed to get a couple of hundred quid out of local businesses. So you could try writing to small businesses in codsall. I think one of their sponsors is their local cornershop. :D

I'm dubious about the commercial benifits to small businesses so it is hard to know what would interest them. At a guess, a team with a strong local presence that would get their brand recognised, and their business seen as supporting the local community. Getting articles in your local paper might make you a more worthwhile billboard for companies aswell.

Not meaning to be patronising, but your ages might be an advantage, because supporting kids sports teams can be percieved as good PR. So if all your team are from the same village/town find a local business that might want to get its name out, perhaps to people from your age group. Your local sweet shop perhaps. ;)

You could also look for a paint deal. Basically this boils down to a customer loyalty scheme, where you agree to buy your paint from them for the season, normally at a slightly cheaper rate. Sometimes you get some freebees thrown in as well, you might also get a discount at there store. We use Tomahawk paint which we get from WDP (And they gave us our playing tops, barrel condoms lanyards, caps & t-shirts as well). They don't have a trade stand at UKM/KotH so it might be easier to speak to Just, phoenix or Atmosphere Paintball, as you could pick up your paint at events.

If you are all looking to buy new markers at once you might be able to get a discount but again that is just another form of bulk buying.

Hope that helps. :)
