That link is ok except there is a typo with the arrangement of the spring stack order. Go to link for the same post corrected and another way to do the same thing

i think the typo is on the TAG thread,it cant be 2 up 2down 2up 2down,as i've only got 6 springs in mine and the picture is the same and it only shows 6 springs.

from the bottom 2 up 2down 2 up.

HELP

It is correct to be 2 down 2 up 2 down 2 up you need to buy 2 more sprung washers ;) ..it isn't a case of you have something and by rearranging you can use it differently. The whole reason for the mod was people wondered that as there were less springs in a Speed/A4 and you had to use LP was there a way to use HP and the 2 up etc came from WDP as an answer, around the same time you also got the 2 up 2 down 3 up (adding 1 sprung washer) sequence appeared...both work.
The other reason people started to ask was the LP upgrade for the AIR was a rearranged spring stack so thats why people started thinking...especially as the AIR upgrade was before the Speed/A4 appeared....makes sense now as WDP obviously had the Speed nearly ready to release.
You don't of course need to do the AIR upgrade as the Speed/A4 will work on the older AIR's but as LP is the "buzz" word of recent times if you can make one of your products LP then you will.
Incidently the spring stack rearrangement is only valid for the use of HP Preset regulators as all adjustable regs will go low Pressure enough to work with a Speed/A4.....the exception being the Max-Flo LP as this is too low unless you have the largest volumiser attached

As Mark already said this doesnt work unless you get 2 more springs.
normal spring stack couldnt get it below 360fps,after changing springs to the 2up 2down 2up it wont go above 240fps max.

this is just a bump to say Listen to those in the know.

i was the one who made the thread on pbnation and tag. I orginally put, 2 down, 2 up, 2 down in the thread. Well, i have been using that spring stack for about 6 months now, and i can get my gun to 300fps and above, and i can get it down to about 210 fps. So 2 down 2 up 2 down isnt wrong. I use a pmi hp tank. And i am just saying, i didnt have to buy 2 extra washers. I used 6 and it worked for me. :D

And so it would seem are the ONLY one that it has worked for! Even the thread you linked to when you were asked this question was the full email from Fraser stating 2down 2up 2 down 2up that was a total of 8 the last time I was at school. I do my research first then post...if unsure I always say so.

*note for anyone else reading this* elsewhere I have been pm'ing Strangeir3 and he seems to be conviently forgetting that other's posts can't be altered and through a fluke has been able to get 6 washers to work....plus he has only registered here as I linked to this thread to show I wasn't making things up about others not getting the results he thought he had got. PMI presets rarely give the stated output and if yours has been modded by Bob then yours might well be now sitting at 450 ish so at those figures 6 washers "might" well work. I could well be wrong about your preset having been modded...see I do post when not sure ;)

first of all, its an easy procedure, you need to tank your mini reg apart though.

1. You need to get circlip plyers to get the circlip on the mini reg out. ( its a round looking clip, that you will see when you unscrew the mini reg.)

2. When you get it out, you take a towel or somtin and put it on top of the hole. (on top of the mini reg.)

3. Hit the reg against a table until the internals come out. (make it so the towel part is hitting the table so no damage is done.)

4. Then you re-arrange the spring stack so they go 2 down, 2 up, 2 down, 2 up. (you'll see what it is when you take it apart.)

5. Then you put the mini reg back together and walaaa. Your gun will run fine now. :)
Note 8 washers not 6.

ok....after testing MANY configurations this i what we found to work best at our Dalton Research Center (some call it the paintball store)

2 down 2 up 2 down 2 up

I emailed Frazer about this asking what the best arrangement would be and he sent me back.........

2 down 2 up 2 down 2 up....LOL Funny huh
here is the email
.....................
Change the spring stack in the mini reg so the springs go 2 down 2 up 2 down 2 up etc
The scope of its adjustment will not have changed, but the band that it operates in will have risen, so it should be better able to regulate down from 1000+ psi

All the best,

Frazer,
....................

sorry about the delay but we had to do the testing before we would say anything
So strangeir3 still want to say it works with 6 sprung washers?
