Hey,

I was at the indoor tourney yesterday and I couldn't help but notice a couple of barrels sparking each time they were fired. I later found out that these barrels were made out of Titanium (a boomstick as such). I was just wondering what causes this? Is it due to friction as the ball passes through the barrel or static build up that's released as the ball leaves the barrel?? Any info. is greatly appreciated cos it looks so damn awesome - especially at night!!!:D

yes when certain gasses pass through titanium barrles it will in effect cause the "rust" sort of and this can cause sparks. Just remmember that every time you see a spark come out of a titanium barrle their accuracy is decreasing due to roughening of the bore of the barrle

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about the effect on the inside of the barrel - surely it can't roughen it up too much though, after all the Dye Titanium is one of - if not THE most expensive barrel out there going for about 200 smackeroonies!!

I just love those sparks - it looks so surreal! :D

It deffinetly won't run the barrel in a single day but it will slowly decrease accurace and effeciancy over time. It's just the price you pay for being cool and buying the single most expencive and overated barrles on the market. (can you tell I'm not a boomstick fan)

I just use the Ultralite when I want a boomstick-ish barrel on my gun and I will find out exactly how well the one I just ordered will work this Saturday. I can't imagine much going wrong with it: it's the new variant of the same barrel that lots of other people have used successfully for years, and that aluminum has few to no problems and such has been well established over time. We shall see.
