Sp8 issues - efficiency and blockages

Hi,
I bought a sp-8 from a member on the forums, and it seems to have a couple of small problems.

Firstly, the efficiency is terrible. I'm using a 0.8l 3000psi tank, and can barely get through 300 balls when firing. Is this likely to be a problem that can be sorted by adjusting the dwell settings? When I first put the gas on the gun, I can hear a hissing noise for around 10 seconds before it stops, so it could be a leak, but I'm not sure at all.

Secondly, paintballs keep getting stuck right at the bottom of the feed tube. This is very annoying, as I can barely fire 5 shots without having to shake the gun, hit the top, or even turn it upside down and take the hopper off, pushing the ball through with my little finger. I'm not sure what causes this at all - could it be due to the front body breach/fire chamber not being lined up with the feed tube?

Please can you give your opinion on what could be causing the problems. I'm considering sending it to smart parts so they can get it working well. How much would they charge?

Thanks guys
Rob

dwell sounds to be way off - likely far too high, bring it all the way down and then bring up around 5 clicks or so at a time until it cycles fully. than add 5 more.

what internals are you running with?

as for the feedtube - if the sp8 is an early one it is likely to have the original feedneck which was found to be mis-milled. best cure - phone SP and get a replacement.

it shouldn't hiss on first gassing up for that long. the bolt may be sticky. i'd suggest giving it a strip, clean and relube and checking the internal o-rings while your at it.

Thanks for the help.

I'm guessing that it is using stock internals. It is a UK marker, so has a slightly different board IIRC to a US marker.
I'll have a play with the dwell later, but how will I know when it is perfect? I'm a bit new to this, and can't seem to find the info on dwell settings, so how will I know when it is "cycling fully"
Thanks

I wouldnt be expecting a great amount of shots from a 0.8l 3000psi from a spool valve gun.
That tank is more for entry level markers like spyders which are rather efficient.

The goal with the dwell is to have as low a value as possible (which helps efficiency a tiny bit), while maintaining a reliable bolt cycle under all circumstances.

If it cycles fully it will make a pop sound and actually fire a ball.
If its not cycling fully it will just make an airy clunk sound. And the ball wont make it out of the barrel (usually it ends up right in the neck of the barrel).

I also would suggest trying different paint if you havent already.
That might just sort out all your problems.

Thanks for the advice. I have also tried Primal gold, but had the same problem.

I have sanded the feed tube down as a temporary solution until my new one arrives, and I'm planning to order a new o-ring set to hopefully stop any potential leaks.

Thanks for the help

Hi guys. I have another problem. I was about to set the dwell up, and noticed that the yellow LED had gone from the circuit board. Is this a case of soldering another one on, or should I send it to smart parts
