I have sent some questions to rob perry (of smartparts) in america about impulse trigger frames and how they are produce (factory methods) and what materials are used(specifically). Thought id just test the water here and see if anyone knows.
By the way its for my AS level Graphics Coursework, thats why i need it!!!

1. What metal is the structure of the frame made from?
2. How do you shape the metal into the your desired frame shape?
3. What sort of rubber is used for the Smartparts sticky grips?
4. What metal is the blade trigger made from?
5. How is each piece produced?
6. Metal used for the screws?

Thanks for any help in advance,
Hawkey.

It is a aircraft grade not as easy as a1 you'll find it has a four digit spec number.

I did something similar but on design. Try the gardner brothers, usual contact is through AA's or phillies.

Most paintball stuff is 6061 or 6063 (probably either T3 or T6), some are in the 2000 series though. I'm not sure exactly which alloy impulses are, but almst certainly one of those. I expect the quality of anodizing finish is almost always more important to the choice than any mechanical critieria, and indeed the 2000s and 6000s generally anodize very well.

The bodies are (I think) made from a custom extrusion (i.e. someone manufactures long sections of approximately the right shape, with the holes down the middle, and then SP just have to chop them into 8-inch lengths, drill and tap in a couple of places and a do a bit of cosmetic milling before they're anodized.) They will probably be a slightly different alloy to the sheet or billet that the frames are made from.
