Oki doki......In my continued quest to try and decide what marker to get next I've decided to mull over the concept of getting one of the newer spec Angels. I'd really like to buy British and still regard the Angel as a slick and aspirational piece of hardware. My budget is probably gonna be a max of 650 quids, which should be able to get me a nice A4 or Speed (i hope) ..... I have some various questions, most of which are rather simple for you clever Angel people out there (sounds silly but can i have some honest unbiased opinions):

1) SENSI...... is it really that crap? I am not alien to the concept of setting it up and I'd like to know how it really performs and its reliability in the long term? And before you mention eyes... I don't have the money for a Fly or Euro and I really don't want one of those garage job eye modifications.

2) Intelifeed..... I've seen some stuff about setting up a Halo to intelifeed, how is this achieved? Does it use the angel's power to drive the Halo at all....or would I still have to keep all those weighty AAs in there.

3) Some question as above but how does it work with an Egg?

4) What is the bore of the standard Infinity you get on modern Angels?

5) Maintenance.... One of my big hooks for a next gun is i want something that requires little maintenance and if sh!t happens then I can give it to a tech who will do the business. What sort of things can/usually go wrong with modern angels? How much does a service (plus P&P) cost from WDP? How much do tourney techs usually charge?

6) How many shots does an out of the box A4 or Speed get out of a 1.1ltr 45000 fill?

There's probably a few more questions I need to know the answers to but these should keep you lot busy for the time being.

Thanks for your time.

1/ Found it very good on my marker once setup properly.

2/ Halo + intellifeed: still uses its own batteries but the marker tells it when to spin/load. (i've heard figures of 28bps "quoted")

3/ works the same with both.

4/ .690 (i think)

5/ nothing really goes wrong (once properly setup).. angel techs are great helpful people. Oiling the marker every 8-10k shoots is all thats normally needed.

6/ about 8-9 pots depending on setup

:) :D

Speak to LPS 01707 325 007 they are great for all things Angel wise and can give you some very good advise...

Right, I am no means a clever sod but had more than a few Angels so here goes...

1. Sensi is fine as long as you are using an Egg on top. Halo's sometimes work Ok with them but you can never be sure. If you want to run a Halo, save more pennies and get a Fly or Euro Speed.

2. Intellifeed Halo is still in prototype stages. Would still need it's own power supply as the Angel battery wouldn't have enough juice to power the Halo too. One of the Arsenal chaps had one at the WDP training this Sunday - so quick it was stupid (the Fly was ramping a lot but even so the speed was jaw dropping)

3. You can intellifeed the Egg but I wouldn't bother. Z Board Evo II + A4/Speed = total peace and karma :)

4. Standard infinity has always been .690 I think but varies between 12" and 14" depending upon model. Awesome tube.

5. Hand on heart - Angels require virtually NO maintenance what so ever. couple of drops of the supplied 'love juice' down the ASA every couple of months is all it needs. Grease service perhaps once a year, get a tech at tournie to do it - cheaper than WDP, can't remember how much but PM Tom Allen as he does this service I believe.

6. Depends on how you set it up. The Speed and A4 have quite some leeway in how you set up input pressure and LPR pressure which in turn has an affect on how many shots per fill you get. Either way, I am failry confident you would never be able to shoot enough paint in a game to get in trouble from a full fill of a 68/4500.

EDIT: DOH - NBR beat me to it!!

I agree with everything that's been said above, with one exception: Sensi sucks hairy ones...why do you think they switched to eyes?
It easily breaks, it gets confused, it has temper tandrums, in other words, it could go into "that time of the month" at any given moment.

That said, having a proper feeder will see you through most troubles. You might not want to stick a HALO on a Sensi Angel, but if you don't usually outshoot an Egg II, it's all gravy.

Don't use an Angel myself anymore, but I found them to be the easiest markers to maintain, plus WDP's service rates pretty high on my thissomegood****-o-meter.

I think they switched to eye's for a few reasons.

1/ more USER friendly

2/ market trends

3/ more reliable

4/ reliable eye technology becoming lower in price to manufacture

1. To be honest it is subject to hiccups but the A4 sensi is the best to date and setup correctly shouldnt give you much trouble.

2. Halo intellifeed would be nice, but as it has been said b4 still only a few prototypes out there

3. Dont know to be honest but I found with my A4 an eggII with Z board still 'starved' it a little.

4. Standard infinity tube is .689

5. Very little but be sure not to skip services as it will cost you more in the long run, there are a lot of us techs out there, and an oil and grease service should cost you no more than £25 + Insured postage.

6. After bedding in from new and a bit of playing around 8/9 pots + hopper is what I was getting out of mine

On another note about hoppers I would go for a HALO all the time and get a Tech to take your sensi rod out and run it flat out without sensi, Alternatively Reloader B's work very very nicely with your sensi still in there.

Hmm why did they switch to eyes??
Public opinion pure and simple.

The problems with sensi usually stem from three things: 1. Sensi strip breaks the paint from the force of a halo. 2. Replace your gated feed and you will suffer ball bounce, the sensi cant deal with that as well as an eye. 3 Paint gets into the sensi hole and reduces its sensitivity or goes as low as the sensor and stops it working.

Intelifeed Halos and eggs in my opinion are far superior to their sensor reactive cousins. I have one on my marker which does not have eyes or sensi (atm) and its just pot after pot after por, I cant outshoot it or make it break paint.

Just remember a 1A relay will work well with the egg, but just dont cut it with a halo. If you use a 1A like I did at first, you will weld the switch contacts together and the halo goes into insane turbo mode!!! (funny but not good for the motor)

Infinities have changed all the time, they used to be nice and large (0.693) then went down as low as 0.689.

Not if anyone has any ancient infinities they want rid of PM me ;)

Well, it's all been said.

But i would save up the extra cash and get the eyes. Well worth the extra money.

Service costs at a tourney, £15 + parts, which is usually around £22 all in.

Great backup from all the techs, gives you peace of mind.
