Impulse bolt pin slots are very open to dirt and other materials, and if while playing, the pin is in the cocked position, a lot of stuff can get in there! The softer delrin bolts would be effect by tiny grit left in this little slot as the pin moves forward!
To reduce this problem, i looked towards the ideas of the Inferno and wondered why a cheaper gun had more protection available. Some field inferno's have a top cocking cover which slides with the bolt pin to stop debris entering the slot... i set out to make a basic one for Impulse!
I found some rubber foam on some hard board that is used to divide the insides of those stainless security cases! I cut away the foam rubber with a stanley knife and was left with some material to play with. I got the impulse and measured the size in width and length. Also, i made sure that if the cover projected in front of the bolt pin, it did'nt smash into the vert feed.
I measured this and cut the rubber. I then cut a cross into the one end of the foam rubber (this rubber is about 1mm thick) and push it over the bolt pin. It was a bit like a McDonalds straw going through the drinks cup lid. It heald secure and i tested the bolt movement all the way forward to make sure it never touched the vert feed! I then gassed the marker up, and testing it at single shots first, then rapid fire. It was perfect, it coverd the slot while in the cocked position perfectly, and no rubbing or restriction was evident!
I will post pictures when i get chance!
