But.....

...Im not sure I want to pay £700 to play in a carpark!!!

Just rang Campaign after noticing the web site has been updated.
I wondered if it was going to be held indoors or out. I had n't seen the info' anywhere , and after a quick brouse of there updated pages , couldn't see it. Really wanting it to be inside. Ready to pay for entry and sign us up. They told me that it will be in the overflow carpark , so I dont know what to do now. Not exactly the WOW factor the NEC could of offered.

I thought this year would bring back the sparkle that Crystal palace had ( after last years attempt ). They are going to have to go some to make a carpark feel more special than the palace.

Suppose we'll have to see when we all get there , they might just pull it off.

Im a bit dissapointed tho'. What do you lot think..?? Or am I behind the times again , and this was common knowledge.

Ask any of the teams that played in the nppl last year, and who attended Denver or San Diego and they will tell you that the events were awesome and the surface was great.

Playing in the car park means that there is no mud, and the event can be laid out to the exact specifications of the organisers prefered layout. The large open spaces allow for a great site layout, and easy to reach fields and a conveniently placed trade village near to the fields rather than a long walk away.

Playing indoors sucks, you cant see incoming paint, and space is always an issue.

If you are worried about playing on the hard surface, then dont be. The turf is 2 inches thick, and with the paddding that you will be wearing sliding will not be a problem. In fact, i much prefer playing on the kind of turf that will be at CC NEC as it is great to slide on. The atmosphere will be awesome, the promo is being done, and the event will be awesome.

FYI as well, PAris is being held in a car park at Disney, so ask teams playing there for their feedback.

;)

Dude , I bow to your greater experience and knowledge ;).

I'll take your word for it , having never made it to any of these other events.

Cheers , Rob.

Just thought I’d interject to give some more info on This years Campaign Cup.

We bust our balls each year, in trying to raise the bar and make the Campaign Cup the annual Paintball Festival. This year will, I promise, be spectacular!

Crystal Palace ran its course. It was far to spread about, security was a nightmare, the lease ran out and no one knew who was going to manage it . As a result we lost our home.

The success of an event is so venue dependent. Last years hosts at Esher turned out to be a nightmare, from the set up until months after. However It was only really a stop gap until we could find something special. So we have been hunting high and low to find a venue which has all the kudos but can also accommodate 160 teams. We have found it and its awesome. It is the NEC in Birmingham.

Yes , the area we are in occasionally gets used as a Car park. A venue like the NEC needs lots of Car Parking. It is mainly used for outside events, and our “car park” even has its own railway station. What makes it special is what you do with the venue when you are in it. Many of the NPPL events are in Parking lots and we all know how spectaclar they can be. It will be played on the new Astroturf, which, as Sam pointed out is brilliant!

We have gone out with a long list of requirements to make the perfect tournament. We are ticking the boxes as we go, and so far so good. We have everything we want, which should mean you will get everything you want.

I was in a press call yesterday with the head of Birmingham City Council. They are 200% behind the event. So expect to see lots of things you have not ever seen in UK tournament before.

We are also planning a BIG players party!

We will be regularly updating the website with the news as it happens.

The Euro 5 stands perfectly well on its own two feet. I wont knock it . It needs more teams and I’ll gladly help Warren with that task should he want.. I agree with my dutch friend, play both.

Finally, Support British Paintball. No matter which league, who organizes it or what. Sod the politics just get out and play!
