Sorry, Maestro. You and the kids are gonna hav'ta wait for your soon be coming very own PGI's for the whole story, but--
I can say this. Vegas is in the desert! Where do we go next? The South Pole!? Oh, and yeah, there's also like a million casinos, clubs, 4 billion flashing lights, girls dressed like guys, guys dressed like girls, and--well, it's just freaky.
Oh, and that paintball thing, we did that too.;)

PS--the fields were well designed and layed out--even the Angel field was okay--but there are issues that arise with this sort of field design. (Will discuss in coming Vegas article.) And, given the desert environs, what they call grass bears little resemblence to actual green, tufted, springy grass but the surface nonetheless played fine. Location was rather out of the way but Vegas isn't a big city--so nothing like HB in terms of event profile. That's all you get unless you beg.:)

Holy crap, Paul, can you complain any more? Yeah, we had a few dry grass storms whip through the players' area, but the ground itself was nice and soft atleast.

Will Arroyo, Matt Marshall (that's proper spelling, right?) and friends were non-stop jabbering at the grandstands on field one, the NPPL field of course. And no matter how obnoxious you may think either one of these guys, they kept the energy up with their crazy flow over the constant beat of the music. Of course it made it hard as hell to hear anything when you were playing that field, but what the hey, right?

Amazingly hot chicks all over the place, vendors' tents wrapped around the entire joint, and a player's paradise of a layout... should I stop now before I ruin someone's story?;)

It was amazing fella's, friggin' amazing... but my standards are a bit lower than Paul's.:p

Dude, you thought that was complaining? Did I not say the fields were good and the surface played fine? It just wasn't grass, ok?
As to Will and Matty--obnoxious doesn't begin to do their mindless jabbering justice. And if playin' muzak and blithering like idiots during the games was okay for the prelims why didn't they do it during the finals, hmm?
Perhaps on the hot chick front I'm jaded. Florida is the land of plenty while Ozark country considers a girl good-looking as long as she's not your sister.
The tourney basics were excellent. Vendor presence is improving and likely will continue to improve. But the NPPL is selling more than a tournament.
As to perspective I admit to being a tough sell. Just remember 26 is a rube. (Sorry, Jason. :p ;) )

LOL, valid point.;)

I still maintain the announcing was at the very least entertaining, my only complaint was the occasional slip of positional info. And they rambled on during finals didn't they? If not at the same speed it could've been because of all the insanity on the field... I timed nearly all the finals games, and I'm not sure if any of them broke the 3' 30" mark.

Here's one, how about those poor bands who played to like, thirty people, as everyone else was packed on the main stands watching the games? I was on the top level, and every once in a while I'd peek over my shoulder to see if anyone was actually watching the live bands... they maybe could've scheduled that differently.

The finals format was altered from HB with a best of 5 instead of 3 with 5 minute games. Hence the pace of the games.
--Which leads me to separate rant. These changes, whatever their intent, will alter style of play and tend to homogenize how the game is played. More ranting later.---

Bands. So tell me, were the bands presence about adding to the experience or adding to the hype? (Slugg-O played, what, one song?)

I think the bands were there for the sole purpose of drawing in spectators, you saw how important it was to the players. It gave everyones' girlfriend a chance to actually be entertained though... I think that's all that was over there: players' bored friends.

Hmmm, I missed that five-minute thing... that would explain the all-out blitzes by everyone.
