Hello

Whats he done has he snapped the banjo in half and left some of the thread in?

Warped have got banjo's on line. just double check which one they are after.

The EO's has a 1/8th and a 5/32 (4mm) banjo. The 1/8 goes up towards the barrel area and the 5/32 goes towards the reg. If it is the rear banjo thats on a barb and may have to be ordered for you.

 Has he been able to get the thread out or is it still stuck in?

If it is still stuck in..... The broken bit of the banjo metal is soft. Do you have an star socket set/kit, find a bit that fits but you need to give it a hard push, then just undo the thread just being careful. The star bit acts as a dethreading tool. Some times it can also strip the thread in the barrel breech, so when he rebuilds it gas it up some where quite and listen.
