Hello gyus, iv posted my problem elsewhere too but i thinki this is a more active forum from what i can see so ill chuck it on here too :) (sorry its my first post guys)
hello,

im new to paintball and iv been given a classic smart parts impulse marker. i know its probably not ideal and is out dated or whatever, but for free, im not moaning!!

only one problem, when he gave it to me he said its got a gas leak and the gas isnt lasting very long at all, changed the air bottle fitted new o-rings and applied ptfe tape, basically theres no air leaks at all now, however, when im firing a shot, most paticularily the very first shot it seems to be using a LOT of gas, a bottle lasts me all of 5 minuites! its asthough its using way too much gas to fire each ball,

i know parts for this marker are going to be hard to source but id really like to get her working and get myself some bruises + the fun that goes with it!

any help will be greatly appreciated guys <3

that sounds like the settings just need adjusting

if you have a board that allows you to change the dwell then lower that to one or two below what it says in the manual

but bear in mind it is an old gun and won't be quite as efficient as current guns on the market, roughly what are you getting shot wise from a tank and what size tank are you using?

just been to get it filled up to test how many shots im getting, it was filled to 3kpsi, i emptied 1 hopper, which is a viewloader ebolution 2, im guessing thats around 150 shots?
this bought it down to 1k psi.

so 2k psi gave me 150 balls.. :(

im looking at the different gauges on the marker, theres on just on the 'max-flo' regulator at the bottom of the marker, not the one for the bottle, (it reads from 0-1200 psi in 300 increments) this is reading at a rouch below 600 psi

theres another gauge thats just below the barrel, i beleive this is the vertical adapter, (Reads from 0-300 psi in 100 increments) its settled just below 200.

that shows the parts im onabout (Page 6)

any help is apreciated

looks like you've got the right presure settings now bring the dwell down bit by bit and keep chronoing the marker and see how that goes.

Did you follow these instructions from the pdf you linked to?

1. Attach the air system to the Impulse.
2. Adjust the air system output pressure to below 100 psi (turn the Max-Flo spring
cap outward). This is to prevent the Impulse from being over-pressurized the first
time the air system is turned on.
3. Turn on the Impulse. By default it will activate in “Eye-Off Mode”. This is the
correct mode for initially setting the input air pressure, do not change.
4. SLOWLY turn on the air system and increase the input pressure to 150-160 psi.
For accurate adjustment, fire the marker, and readjust if necessary.
5. Attach the barrel and a loader. Put paintballs in loader.
6. Change the Impulse to “Eye-On Mode”.
IMPORTANT: In Eye-On Mode, the first shot will always fire with or without
a ball in the chamber.
7. Adjust regulator pressure between 150-200 psi to achieve desired velocity.
NOTE: If your Impulse is using a compressed air system and a secondary regulator, set the
output pressure of the primary air systems regulator to 650-750 psi. Follow Step 4 to set the
output pressure of the Max-Flo regulator.

ill get a picture up after work tonight of the marker.

as to the way i filled the gas up, i did everything except for step two, is it worth trying with step two?

i took a look at where the pdf shows the dwell adjustment, and my marker just has two holes where the buttons should be(page 5) however inbetween the two holes theres another hole with a tiny dial that can be adjusted, im guessing this is the dwell adjustment? ill get her filled up again tomorrow and try step two and see how it goes. thanks guys

is it double reg'd i take it? what velocity are you running? is the on/off button on the side or the back? personally get replace the front reg with a gas through then turn the max flo down to under 200 (or the solinoid will blow) then adjust the dwell and max flow untill you get decent velocity and gas consumption,
