Alright boyz,
Here ya go. Can't take a hint? Ya got your own thread. Enjoy. I know I will. :p  :D

Chris - that format is already in the public domain. I'd give up trying to 'public domain' any format ideas in order to keep them from being patented because you just continue to display your ignorance of patents by doing so. The 'idea' doesn't get the patent, its the invention that uses the idea that gets patents. That's what CLAIMS are - that's 'c' 'l' 'a' 'i' 'm' 's' - not clams.

Besides, your beach ball idea has already been tried in front of the camera and it was a dismal failure. Suggesting it further displays your ignorance of game design

BUT

that's not what I'm posting about:

The NCPA web site is now tearing apart Milt Call and his arena ball format. From this a few things are clear:

NCPA is a creature of Raehl. It will continue to do absolutely nothing long term or substantial for college players until they figure out that:

the purpose of the organization's position is to keep anyone and anything away from college paintball until someone else can take advantage of it - perhaps that would be nxl, or psp - and its more than likely to be one of them since there seem to be some very strong ties developed between the 'creature' in Wisconsin and the 'creature' in New York.

The purpose of college paintball is not to make life better for college ball, it is to deliver college ball dressed and trussed for the slaughter.

It will fall on deaf ears, but I wonder if the creature from Wisconsin has ever heard the phrase 'judas goat'...?

I'd strongly urge anyone who is even thinking about working with the college league to realize that its a captive market, already under the influence of certain other creatures and if your business and political goals do not coincide with theirs, you're only slitting your own throat by helping them out.

They've attacked and denigrated virtually every single organization that has tried to help them - including Milt Call, including PNN, IAO and its NOT from stupidity, there's a reason behind it, it follows a pattern we've seen before and it won't be stopped until the college players wake up and realize that they are on the primrose path to armageddon. But they won't wake up soon enough - that's part of the pattern also.

What the master manipulator really ought to take a look at is the history of other industry folks who have enjoyed a relationship with NY similar to his own. Oh? You mean there were others? Yes - and the fact that you have no clue as to who they are or what they did, the very fact that they are no longer in the industry, ought to be a big wake up call.

But it won't be because NY plays to people's weaknesses - flattery, importance, making you feel wanted and needed, making you believe you're going to go somewhere, supporting your efforts (but not too much, got to keep them darkies down on the farm) and always staying one step ahead of your suspicions.

Deaf ears, I know. That's why I'm waiting for yet another telephone call - oh, let's say about two years from now - when someone calls and sheepishly says 'you were right all along, how could I have fallen for it'?

Just like the virgin that finds herself pregnant after one brief fling -and moans over the fact that she can never be a virgin again..

This thread will be like facing off two mirrors, the little peek you can get inside if you hold them slightly apart just descends into darkness and eternity....
I for one will be steering well clear of Chris's dissertations thankyou !

Since I'm convinced that the first thing Raehl does when waking up in the morning is to check to see how many times his name has come up in Paintball threads overnight, I'll help him find this thread, on the off chance that he's missed it...

Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, JB (oops, how did that get in there?) Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl, Raehl....

Heh, contrary to popular belief, I don't spend all day checking to see if there's another thread with my name on it on p8ntballer. Especially since I'm still banned at work. ;)

That said, I can only laugh.

Anyone is welcome to go over to our forums and read the feedback on the Arenaball event. There is not one iota of anything negative said about the IAO there, and while there have been some suggestions on improving Arenaball from the people who played it, everyone is very appreciative to Milt for his help as well.

They are not, however, very appreciative about an organization that has never hosted a college event, and has no players, going around saying that they represent college paintball. The NCPA is a players ASSOCIATION - an organization designed specifically to represent the interests of the PLAYERS. Amazingly enough, insulting the players you are trying to get to play for you is not an effective marketing tactic. And the players realize that when they have built a players organization, and someone else is trying very hard to circumvent that organization, chances are that someone else is up to no good.

We don't mind if people make a buck off of college paintball. We *DO* mind if people try and remove the mechanism that insures that the buck they make from college paintball is proportional to the support they give to college paintball.

At the end of the day, I'm the elected President of the second largest organization in paintball, and Steve is a glorified shipping clerk with a patented format nobody plays. I know Steve feels better about himself by believing this is the result of a Braun-Raehl conspiracy, but I would submit that Steve's failures, especially those that occured before I'd ever held a paintball marker, might, just possibly, be Steve's fault.

The NPPL is a failure?

I know the revisionists would desperately like to change the facts, but where we are today is due, in no small measure, to the original meeting I called in 1992, the rulebook I wrote in 1993 and the ranking and seating programs that were adopted by the NPPL as well.

The charge made is exactly the same mantra that Mr. NY has been leveling against me for years, and hearing it parroted is no small surprise.

Don't be putting words in my mouth. The NPPL is far from a failure - it currently has some of the (or the , depending who you ask) best paintball events on the planet.

The failure I was refering to was trying to control an organization and getting thrown out of it in short order.

According to you, you (apparently) start NPPL, it gets rid of you, and goes on to do very well. You (apparently) come up with this new format, which fails miserably, is (apparently) copied by someone else, and then flourishes. You (apparently) start the national college paintball league, which is then (apparently) stolen to go on without you, and is apparently doing quite well.

Isn't it perhaps, just maybe, a little bit more likely that you suck at figuring out what people want, so they all do something else instead? Or that maybe, just possibly, you were never as integral to things as you'd like to convince yourself?

Does it frustrate you to see these things doing so well without you, continual examples to how unnecessary you really are?

Damn, I can be really mean sometimes.

Facts need to be straightened out.

"The failure I was refering to was trying to control an organization and getting thrown out of it in short order."

I founded the NPSRS in 1989. That became the WPF, which led directly to the NPPL founding meeting in 1992. In 1993 I coordinated everything for the league and presided over the meeting that led to the election of the first executive board of the organization. I continued doing ranking, seating and scorekeeping duties through 1995, at which time I was elected Secretary for the 1996 season.

Mr. Braun then lobbied for a recall vote (since he had unsuccessfully blocked my election) and, surprise, surprise, I then won the recall vote and remained as Secretary through the end of the '96 season, after which I voluntarily resigned.

WINNING a vote is not getting 'thrown out'. Conceiving of, running and then managing an organization through to its final organizational format is not failure, nor is it getting thrown out. Remaining with that organization and serving in a key capacity for an additional four years is not short order.

BTW - you forgot to mention the Complete Guide to Paintball book, of which I was (apparently) a lead author and which (apparently) then went in to a second edition, distributed by a new distributor and which had Mr. B's name front and center.

(I wonder how long its going to take him to change the Library of Congress' listing of the book's authors as "Davidson, et al"....?

[plug]For a more comprehensive listing of Mr. Davidson's contributions and achievements, and for a straight- from- the-horse's-mouth impression of his passion and dedication to the sport, check out the "Paintball's Most Dangerous Man?" Interview on my website! [/plug]

Sorry...had to put that in. Hopefully after World Cup and/or Miami Super 7 I'll have an interview with Mr. Raehl so that we can all hear his accomplishments and get an impression of his passion for the sport.

I'll bow out now and shut up.
