I live in bristol and was wondering where the re are any good (cheap) paintball shops in bristol. I also play at hamburger hill alot, and was wondering what other good sites there are, and if there are any that can compete with hamburger hill in the area. I would quite like to join a team, i think i am ok for a newbie, but am willing to give it a go and learn to get good (i hope
:p ) anyone interested?

heya Cap'n. I'm based in bristol for about 2/3 of the year, and so far i've found that the best place to go and shoot paint without travelling too far is Showtime, Bristol Indoor Paintball which can be found in kingswood. It's basically the top floor of a factory building with a (newly installed) sup'airball field spread across it. It's also a good place to get spares/upgrades and advice, the guys there are really helpful.

As for out door sites, i think the closest is near the airport, although that's one i haven't been to. Yet.

Oh yeah, i noticed you have a shutter from your previous post; Its a great gun, and lots of people play in tourneys with 'em. I myself have a Spyder E99, which is very similair to a Shutter, but with an electronic trigger, very sturdy and reliable so far.....

hope this helps

Yeah well thats slightly arrogant for yourself Goon.... But anyways great Idea on the Paintball society at the University in Bath and Yeah I will come and play for the team... We have the natural raw talent.. So just make sure u can make some teals with places so members of the team can get stuff cheap etc.... Dunno where tho... As for Tactics... Leave that to me.. As for the society... Who the hell chairs it?

Paintball Adventures is alright drop in RecBall site - www.paintball-adventures.co.uk nearest competitor to Hamburger Hill worth checking the site - I should say I work there as a marshall so obviously I can't be too subjective.

I'm heading down to showtime sometime soon for a practise with TRIBE the local based team that whipped the South West League and then moved onto the Midlands league one of the bosses at our place, Beard sawe more play and says I should come down andget shot to **** nice guy ...!

Cheers, yeah i played at paint ball adventure last weekend. Was pretty good, although i thought the markers werent that great. A couple of probbs i found was that because head shots and gun shots dont count, i got hit in the head loads cos u just keep ur head up and looking, and makes it had for surprise attacks as covering fire doesnt keep peoples heads down. Plus i also found the other team were wiping off the paint loads (had to shoot one guy 5 times until he was eventually called out). Perhaps u should adopt the really strict approach of if u r caught, u and the closest person are taken out of the game and you are removed from the next game, this would deter ppl alot more.

Cheers

Last weekend I marshalled all 3 days (Friday IS the weekend!) I was the little one in the Green V-Force mask probably being called 'Monkey Boy' or the wear occassion Pete.

If you mean the weekend of the 3rd and 4th you may also have seen me publicly apologise for shouting "He's out ammo listen to his goddam gun" a little too loudly shortly followed by the guy getting mugged something chronic by about 3 players - oh well i was getting worked up coz so many players who head down to the site are muppets!

Okay here's my view on wiping and head(and gun)shot thing:

Being a rental site we introduce these rules because, most players coming to these sites are New fair enough Paintball is not established as a sport as much as in the UK it's a novelty like bowling or bungie jumping. THe sort of people who come down to play aren't tactically brilliant or more importantly confident. They think they're going to get shot a lot and it's gonna hurt - with this in mid with headshots counting most would run to the first bunker they could see and hide maybe look out quickly see someone with a gun and hide again.

With headshots and gun shots not counting then they have the extra flexibility to stick their bonce out have a look out and fire a few shots off - feel in the game and have fun more to the point. Okay this actually introduces MORE headshots then less as we say at the beginning of the day however here's the big thing which I think most people maybe consider and then reject...

That site is a business and out to make money - short and sweet. We want you to fire off hellfire 100 shots - £7 say boxes are bought in at £40 for 2000 (they're cheaper coz we get 'em trade) that's ooh £2 per 100 shots so in short every pod you fire off we get £5 simple we want you shooting and the headshot, gun shot rule keeps you in the game longer and keeps you firing. You may hate that bluntness but well play tourney and you'll start paying more coz you're firing more so well it's not good - oh except if your team has a paint sponsor and we're paying %0p per 100 so well hmmm that's a different matter.

Next thing wiping - now this feks me off and I don't know really what to say about this there's a couple of ways to deal with it - shout loudly for a marshall and hope they're close enough and eager enough enough to run thru the ensuing firefight and check them in time - next thing we all no shots hurt - pain will get people off the field sad but true more shots more welts... Finally we do impose a 1-4-1 rule on players found wiping but don't publicise it we just do it as the players that wipe are few and far between so we discourage them individually from doing it - if we said at the beginning "if we find you wiping ..." then people's brains would start ticking over going hmmmm so we can get away with it ...

Well long drawn out and off the point but anyway can you remember me?

Green V-Force, red long fingerless gloves with grey neoprene sections and short 5'5" wearing Merrell Blade approach shoes.
