why do barrel makers have the tips of the barrel screw into the back section? surely it would make more sense to have the back section screw into the front section. then if you had to take your barrel apart midgame for some reason like your backend got wedged in then you could still use it?

if im being stupid tell me.....

makes sense to me tho :p

silly answer...?

Yeah that would seem like a good idea. Just a guess as to why barrels aren't made this way would be that a 'back' as you describe it could be used alone as a barrel without the front. According to the Firearms act our markers come under the same classifiaction as airguns. An air RIFLE may legally have a muzzle velocity of up to 12 ft/lbs (340 fps using an average weight paintball) but if u have a barrel equal to the length of just the back then perhaps its classed as an air PISTOL and can only legally have a muzzle velocity of 6 ft lbs ( 170 fps) as per the Act. Dunno, what do the experts think?

I think it's just to stop nuggets screwing the front in and thinking it's the entire barrel, but yeah, makes sense :)

I think it probably started wheh Dye started gluing barrels together. There were done like that for aestetics. Then when screw in barrels came along they just slightly altered the design.
