Hey, im looking at getting a tippman 98 but i hear they are noisey as F**K so anyone know of any ways to quiet them down?
any ways like buying new parts, wrapping barrels or any tricks anyone has picked up would be helpfull.

Hold a potato in front of the barrel,thats how they do it in the films when they want a cheap silencer

ok ok i know how they do it in the movies, might as well shoot through a lump of grass if im going about it film style but i doubt a paintball marker would be ablet o pull that off. . . any serious ideas.


not that i dont mind a bit of humour (i hadnt heard the two pillows one before)

barrels with more porting are quieter.

the volvic bottle only works if you cut the end off and gaffer tape the hole up lol

Thing is, a tippy's sound profile doesn't come from the air pop that powers the ball, it's the clunking of the blowback internals. The only real way to combat that is to experiment with springs of differing tensions and polish everything I think. If that doesn't work, i'd wrap the whole thing in cloth if I were you :p

If you are a member of www.ukscenario.com forums, they'll be able to help you a lot more than the tournament players here I imagine. Gommie is the main person that comes to mind, he has done plenty of sound reduction projects and his silent ion is something to be seen because you certainly can't hear it!
