They probably are referring to an unported section. Take Lapco the first stage of the barrel (the section that is unported) is significantly larger than that of a AA. If your looking for a decent unported section take a look at CP, lapco and avoid two pieces as generally the back is not allowing the ball to accelerate to its fullest possible speed. Generally what is more important is a good match that allows little air to escape around the ball to allow good consistent acceleration to the paintball.

The shorter barrel you can get while achieving the minimum 8" of unported, straight (not stepped) bore is what you want. You can do it with a 10" BOA, 11" Armson 2 piece, 14" CP... a 16" AA has the 8" you want, but after that it's too much stepped bore (.700 I think) and porting, which gulps gas insanely. You want as little going on after the effective (non ported straight bore) length as possible for maximum efficiency. My 14" CP gave me 200 more shots per tank over the stock AA on my Shocker, and was actually quieter.

Class dismissed.

You can order them through www.paintballgear.net or off of eBay, which sells them all the time through various dealers. Yes, I'd get the 14", as that's what I got the best results with from my Shocker. If in the event that you'd still be having difficulties acquiring a CP, Armsons are quite acceptable as well and can be found readily since they're made in the UK right now. The 2 pieces are excellent!
