From Smacktalk...
Ya someone already posted crap about it, but I went there with one thing in mind, and that was watching the teams. Here is my call.
Assassins: simply amazing firepower! They took it to Miami in the morning, but looked pretty well balanced against Miami once those guys got their legs back in the later part of the day. They mowed *everyone* else out there except for the few games against the new Avalanche squad. Kudos to Bob for giving his left over paint to all the star struck who were hanging out watching. This will still be a top tier team in the NXL.
Miami: they have stepped it up and have really started to gel. They mostly only played against the Assassins over the weekend, but after getting it taken to them in the morning, they got their game back and pretty much ended the day as a draw. They are finally starting to use the mowing power of their timmys to it's fullest extent (well except for Rusty who still shoots like 2bps). Look for these guys to also be in the top tier this year - no more bottem feeding.
Avalanche: don't call them Kapp anymore. It may still be Dave Bains and company, but wow have these guys peaked. They have been playing EVERY weekend, both days, and practicing during the week as well. Ed is backing these guys 100%, and by the ear to ear smile on his face after his guys went something like 12-4-1, he was very happy for his flight home. Also it looked really good when they took time from playing to sign autographs for a lot of little kids who showed up to watch. Kudos fellas. They will be a finals team in the NPPL for sure, and will be a real challenge to Dynasty, Strange and the Dogs in Div I x-ball.
Twisted (or now called Revolution): What happened to these guys? They were out on Saturday and looked like rookies. At one point the entire team gave up and went to play REC BALL! It's still pretty much the same core players, but I guess they spent too much time in the off season drinking then playing. Wow, what a bummer.
Shockwave UK: these guys flew all the way from the UK to play with the big boys. On Saturday the only team that looked worse then these guys was Twisted. They were still playing Euro ball, and were just getting blown off the field by timmys going 20bps, while they shot impulses and cockers. On Sunday these guys obviously learned their lesson, and looked *a lot* stronger. They were putting a lot more paint in the air and looked as if the norcal paintball style was much to their liking. If they can hold on to what they learned, they will be a force in the EXL in 04.
PS. mucho thanks to Crossfire paintball park for having everyone out.
