Shocker setup for Co2, can I use a nitro duck?

I'm thinking about buying a Shocker, it's setup for CO2 currently. So could I just screw a Nitro Duck into the ASA. Like on a Mag I can just unscrew my CO2 and screw the Nitro Duck and away I go. Does the Shocker run off the same principle, I'm asking because I know the Shocker runs off a different input pressure, and the Nitro Duck has a fixed reg on it.

While I'm at it, is this true for an Impy too?

Should work - as long as your nitroduck is the 800psi variety. If shockers are anything like impulses you may have to do some tinkering to get the air to work properly though. Try looking at the Shocker Manuel at www.smartpartseurope.co.uk

if you are looking at running a shocker with compressed air over Co2 then you must consider a couple of things.

1) shockers are gas hogs due to the way they work, you will need at least a 114ci tank if you are running 3000psi and a 88ci for 4500psi to give you some idea here is a rough estaimate of the shot usage with a shocker

20 oz. Co2-------700

68cu in Co2------900

88cu in Co2------1100

114cu in Co2-----1300

using air at 3000psi

68/3000--------400
88/3000--------550
114/3000------700

using air at 4500psi

68/4500------900
88/4500------1200
114/4500-----1500

these are rough estimates

2) to answer your question the reg that comes with a shocker is designed to bring the pressure down to the operating pressure of the marker (about 200 - 220psi).you would need to use two regulators together to run air in your shocker. You can use another air system in conjunction with the maxi-flow that comes with your shocker. You would need to set your output to around 800psi on the primery reg, so that you dont starve the marker. The maxi flow would then be used to set the velocity of the marker.

I hate CO2, is it more consistant used with a shocker. I used it was a Mag and it was horse **** in cold weather. Do shockers have the same problems with Co2

Shockers seem to excel running on Co2, because of the low operating pressure it is possible to freeze down the bottle and still be running at 280 - 290fps.

which is why most teams using shockers still run Co2

I'm looking at using a 3000psi nitro duck which I have used on a Mag. I think that regulates down to 800 - 850psi which should be ok for a shocker...right??? Ok course because it's a Nitro Duck the reg is pre set. So then I adjust the eclipse reg on the shocker to adjust the velocity?? Is this right

yes!! but you will need at least a 114ci tank at 3000psi

why does it have to be 144cu, is it because I would'nt get many shots from anything less, or is it because of something more scientific.

Also how do i find out what the capacity of my tank is. It's second hand and I have emailed the person who sold it to me but I have had no reply. IS there a way of finding out, it doesn't seem to be stamped on my bottle.

it should say on the tank 114ci is the largest you can currently get, this will give you about 700 shots at 3000psi, in general most systems come with 68ci which will give you approx 400 shots so a hopper and a pot and your guns dead!! not what you want in a game.

Which is why most shocker users go with co2 or a 88ci 4500psi system
