i shoot an impluse on co2 and it is common if not expeted that the reg will ice over on long strings of paint. its the co2 expanding

as for the hissing i only get that if i rattle off half-full hopper load of paint with out stopping!
i do how ever get it come out of the top of the brass bit on my reg if my mate sets the marker up.(he runs them @220 far to high! i run it at about 140-160 and maintain a range of 275-295fps
i doubt that was any use but hey!!

Another thing i just thought of when i had me good old spyder 1 i could hold the gun barrel facing down .but with my shocker a ball will fall out if its a bit smaller than me bore(DYE BOOMY)

is this right do all electros do it ???:confused:

Or is that the job of a ball detent and the shocker dont have 1 if so can you get 1 fitted ????

THe standard shocker has no ball detent and as its a closed bolt marker, then if there's a paintball in the breech when you point it down then yes it can roll out.

The reg 'leaks' for a sec because the long string of rapid fire you shot causes the reg to open up to allow lots of gas to flow through. When you stop, the reg cannot shut quick enough and a bit of extra gas goes into the gun, raising the pressure (slightly) above what it is set at (around 180 psi on shockers). The solenoids in the shocker can be damaged by pressures over 200 psi, so overpressuring them, even temporarily, is bad. The reg is clever and knows whats happened so it just vents the excess pressure from the bottom, hence the hissing noise.. There you go.

Finally. voncringle is correct that it ices up because the co2 is expanding inside the reg. It is worse on a shocker than on say a spyder because the shocker runs a lower pressure in the reg thus the gas has to expand more to get tot the lower pressure. Hence more expansion means more volume of gas and more volume of gas means more cold. If you've done A-Level physics you will know whatshisnames gas laws (? Boyle's ?) that state:

Pressure = Volume * Tempreature

This can be rearranged to make

Temperature = Pressure / Volume

When the reg does its job, the gas pressure drops and the volume increases. Hence the temperature must drop as shown by the equation above. This is a bit of a simplification but it shows the point :)

Hope that is more than enough detail for everyone,

Tom
