Cost you between £5 - £15 depending on weight.

You take his money (Paypal, Cashiers cehque, Money order etc)
Package up your crap.
Write "Enjoy your present *****" On the outside.
Go to the post-office.
Fill out a customs form, label as "gift"
Pay money to post office.
Hand over package.

Royal mail have finally got their fingers outta their ass and now do a insured International service. ive used it a few times - takes about 10 days to get there

Yanks dont need to pay import duty so i dont think marking its a gift is needed.

Courier is your other option

as above the post office do a "international signed for" which means you know that it has arrived or take it to the nearest Parcel force depo and tell them you want to post it with insurance and tracking, then you can give the guy the tracking number so you can both track it until he recieves it, costs a little more but at least you wont get the "i never recieved it emails of hate"

If it's your XMag, Dan, you're boned. It cost me £43 to post mine to Milwaukee & due to the weight, they cannot do signed delivery (this is only for items under 2kg). However standard insurance will cover you up to £500. If you want extra it'll cost you another tenner.

If thats the case take it to parcel force as its around the same sort of price for insurance and tracking, the insurance covers up to £1000 then you pay somthing like a £1 extra for every £100 of insurance over
